  • Ha, Knew I'd get your attention. Okay ,now that i have it.

What other exercise besides Running gets you to that Euphoria. ?? I've not had the euphoria because I don't run nor do I have any intentions on doing so.

So I would like to know what else I can do to get high on exercise. ? is there anything else?
  • To be honest...I've done everything else (elipticle, bikes, weights, videos, etc.) and NOTHING gives me the feeling of running...hands down...it's addictive!
  • I've had it hiking (it's when I start thinking "oh my gosh, I could do this forever, I should hike the Appalachian Trail." I can tell it's over when I wonder how much I can sell my boots for on ebay since I'm never doing this again.)

I've had it biking, too. It lasted about 40 minutes out of an 8 hour ride once.
  • That is absolutely my favorite part of exercise........getting the runner's high after I finish.
I always get it when I do over an hour of an intense workout. It's a pretty amazing feeling

But running always gives me a more intense high than anything else.
  • see, than it's clear that nothing gets you there so it's hard to want to do something if you don't get *something* from it. And I don't mean sweat. I don't want that.
  • The impact of running releases endorphins into your body giving the runner's high.

I enjoy the elliptical now. I ran years ago, and do remember the high vividly. Hoping once some of this weight comes off I can start running again.

    You don't want to sweat?
  • weight training? you'll get more muscle. more muscle burn more cal even when you're sleeping!
  • i think we could have a real debate about all the things we 'get' from exercise. i at least feel proud i did it.
  • I feel 'high' (good) after I finish any cardio that I've worked hard at for at least 30 mins. In particular, the epiliptical, bike, stairclimber. I do feel a bit higher (lol) when I run, but i always feel good after I do any kind of exercise.

you could take drugs and get high if you are looking for that. But I think some drugs make you sweat too. Maybe a lot of vodka? Which could lead to a bad hangover, though. Sex? Oh, wait, that involves sweating.

Good luck in your search! I'll be over here getting nothing out of my exercise...
  • The only exercise that has brought me something comparable to a runner's high is road biking. Never, ever, an indoor bike. It's not really like a runner's high -- but biking out on the road, with the wind on your face and a good rhythm going, is an amazing, addictive experience for me.

Come to think of it, I've only really had a runner's high outdoors, never on the treadmill. Maybe that's why you never hear of an elliptical high or a stairmaster high?

Lol on the sweating with sex. Now that's a different "wet" I ccan handle. I'm not a big sweater so when it does happen, indent like it . Its uncomfortable to me.lol

So the SARS are I , nothing like an outdoor runners high.

    DRATS. Lol
  • Yes, hands down, running is the best exercise that has given me that euphoric feeling...Biking, for me, doesn't even come close, for some reason... Swimming laps has given me that feeling and Yoga too, now that I think about it, does give me a euphoric feeling ...
  • For me it's all about intensity. I put the effort in, my body rewards me with a high. Weight lifting alone doesn't do it for me, but weight lifting combined with cardio, even its just jumping jacks between sets, is AMAZING.
