I want to start exercising but concerned about hunger...
So I don't mind exercising...last year i started a running program that I liked OK, although I never loved it or got addicted. The thing is, it made me beyond hungry, to the point my stomach was growling constantly and I could eat a giant meal and be hungry 2 hours later.
I never lost any weight running, and I haven't done it the past couple months (since August). Sept 20 I started counting calories and I've lost about 9 lbs since then. I am sticking to 1500 or under a day. The question is, I want to start running again and weight lifting twice a week. Currently, I just do a lot of walking and yoga, which I will continue. Do I add more calories on running days (or the day after) or how do I control my hunger? Advice, tips? Will eating more carbs help or hurt in this scenario? |
I would say plenty of lean proteins--lentils, pork tenderloin, chicken breast without the skin, egg whites.
I would do complex carbs and only in strict moderation. Do some reading about the glycemic index and how it relates to blood sugar. |
There's nothing wrong with eating every 2-3 hours, if you're hungry eat! Eat something healthy though with a protein and low glycemic index carb along with a healthy fat like almond butter or almonds... On the days you run eat closer to 1800 calories if you're extra hungry, then the next day eat your usual calorie intake, just make sure that all your calories are nutrient dense and healthy...
