Turbo Jam? People help??

:moo:

i feel like a cow right now....Okay first off, i made my mom waste a ton on money on SlimIn6 and it was soooo boring, i wanted to puke! So i saw the ad for Turbo Jam on TV, and it looked awesome. Im 13 and i have no clue how to dance. and i feel like an idiot doing Zumba. I want to try it, but this is the last weight-loss thing my mom will let me buy. No pills or special diets(south beach?) she says i have to WORK it off. So i was wondering, is it hard? How long are the videos? Does it get boring after a little bit?

Becuz i need to lose weight, im 13, 5'3' and 180lbs.

How long will i need to do it? How many times a week?According to the culture these days,i need to be thin. Help me! Did it work for you? Was it fine? Did YOU like it?
Thanks....

i could use a friend right now....

Hi there! I haven't done Turbo Jam myself, but from what I've heard it is supposed to be fun. I would suggest buying the product from Amazon or maybe Ebay as you can avoid being roped into extra charges from the Beach Body website. However, I do think I should say that most people look at weight loss as being 80% diet and 20% exercise. You can't 'undo' poor eating habits with exercise. So when your mom tells you to work it off, there is a limit as to how far you can really go with exercise alone. You don't have to go on any special diet if you don't want to. Eating more fruits and vegetables, reducing portion sizes, even counting calories if you feel so inclined are all great ways to help change your eating habits for the better.

I am also worried that you think that you 'HAVE' to be thin because of what society says. Yes, being overweight is unhealthy, but this should be a change that you are making in your life to make you happy and not other people. I totally understand how hard it is to be a teenager and weigh more than your friends, so I'm not saying that it isn't a motivational factor. I do think that you shouldn't do this for anyone but you.

As for the wasted money on Slim in 6, could she try selling it on Ebay? It wouldn't get back the full price, but it would be something.

You don't need a lot of money to be in shape... Walking, biking are great exercise and don't cost much... Doing body weight exercises are great, push-ups, lunges, squats, crunches.... Take some cans or water bottles as your weights and do some shoulder presses, bicep curls, tricep kick backs... You Tube has a ton of workouts for free...

But I agree that eating healthy is the most important part... Being thin is not important, being healthy is... Is your mom preparing you healthy stuff? Or maybe you can help your mom prepare healthy meals... I love being in the kitchen with my daughter...

Just some random thoughts that I hope will help...

Keep us posted on your progress...

You are too funny! You name yourself Fatchick under your name and then the first thing you write is that you feel like a cow. I find self deprecating humor very funny but at 13 I wonder if it's humor or how you beat up on yourself. You might want to watch what you say to yourself and how you speak about yourself. I am 35 and I have been struggling with weight since I was very young.

I have every workout DVD possible - ask your Mom if you can send me a PM and with her permission I will send you one. Yes some of them are boring and you don't have to like all of them so go for a walk. Turn on your favorite show and walk in place for 30 minutes while it's on (I do that myself). Get active - organize a walking group with your friends or your family members.

Change your eating, do not starve yourself or take pills. Stop eating all the crap. Most importantly don't tear yourself down with words.

Hugs
