Question.

I've just recently read about C25K, and it looks like something I'd really like to try. I don't live in an area where I can really move around anywhere, I live on an extremely busy road, and don't drive, so I can't really get myself anywhere. I usually jog in place in my bathroom (lol.) Will doing this, standing in place, or even just walking/jogging up and down my driveway give as much benefit as continuously moving forward? I've always wondered about that.

Thanks!

Stacey

Do you have a friend that drives that might be intersted in joining you? Maybe you could go to a local park or just a neighborhood with less traffic.

"can't really" get around usually means you can, with a little effort. Get on bus, call a friend, stay on the sidewalk. Do what you need to do to get out and run.

There's a poster on here who has lost over 100 lbs by walking circles around the inside of her house. She walks something like an hour a day just through her house. She also said she walks while talking on the phone.

So yes, it's doable. ;) I lived on a very busy road once too where you take your life into your own hands trying to walk on it. And I don't know about you, but we have no sidewalks in my community.

There is certainly nothing wrong with running in place or in the driveway, but unless you have a much longer driveway than I do I question whether the intensity will get up high enough to merit C25K. I can't get up to an actual run in my driveway.

I agree I don't think you could do the c25k in your driveway per see but you can do sprints there and burn lost of lots calories, you can do walking lunges too, if your appartment has stairs go up and down those stairs, hey instant stair climber  ... you can also put some good music and dance around your appartment for an hour... if you have a tv and dvd player you can do a dvd called "Walk away the pounds" by Leslie Sansone... the sky's the limit really, be imaginative, if there's a will there IS a way :D ...

Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide to do...
