asics running shoes
 

I recently bought two pairs of Asics shoes for neutral feet. They seem OK, but need some breaking in (I had some issue regarding my heels - some back of the foot pain). For the runners out there: is this a natural process with Asics, do they need some breaking in? I did not have this issue with other brands, for example.

I have Asics running shoes as well, didn't have that problem with my first pair but in my replacement pair I'm noticing the heels are really stiff. Oddly, they seem to be getting stiffer rather than loosening up.

I've not worn any other running shoes as I've only been running about a year, but I have had to break in other athletic shoes.

Thanks for your answer! I will keep on running in them for one more week and see what happens... I really hope it's just one of those breaking in things... I will post about my progress - hopefully it helps others who are considering buying new shoes.

Shoes should feel good right off - that's what I have been told and found it's pretty well true. Everyone has their own preference of brand but it is good if you can find a place to fit you for shoes. Especially if you have any problems. I learned that lesson the hard way after spending $100's on shoes that ended up not working for me :(

I have never needed to break in my Asics, they fit perfectly from day one. I have had many pairs and when I'm fitted at the running store they put me in the same type year after year. They watch me walk and because I roll out a bit on the outsides of my feet I get that type of Asics runner.
I wrecked my knee in a pair of neutral Asics and had to go for physio. It pays to be evaluated, sure beats the pain! :o

I also buy Thorlo (sp?) socks for running in, keeps my feet cushioned nicely.

I know you shouldn't do this but I ran a 10k race with a brand new pair of just bought Asics and I didn't have any problem at all...

Thank you very much for your answers. I will keep everyone posted with my progress. Hopefully I will get used to my Asics.

My Asics did need to be broken in as well, now I really like them :)

I hope mine will be OK, too.

My Asics took a few runs for me to break in, but I love them now. I also love New Balance. I find the shoes that take a little bit of time to break in are a lot sturdier and last longer. I'm not a fan of Saucony's because while they're comfortable, they don't last more than 4 or 5 months for me.

Mine were perfect from day 1. And they should've been, for $140!!!! :)
