  • I lugged around a heavy messenger bag filled with doorknob hangers and passed them out for 2 hours in the hot sun. It was almost non-stop power walking, with loads of hills. AND I got paid $20. Weeeee.

Hmmm, it was pretty humbling thinking about how impossible that would have been a year or two ago.
  • I had such a busy day today, but I just managed to squeeze in a 10 minute cardio kickboxing workout and a 4 minute stretching workout. I feel better!
  • I just came back from running-- I'm NOT COPING with the heat and humidity. I have a big old stomach ache, and feel like I'm going to puke. The only upside, these hot runs are killing my appetite.
  • ok, so i was looking for an exercise accountability thread. I remember when I was younger. I was so motivated to stay fit. I did crunches during commercials, and loved interval running late at night or early in the day.

here I am NEEDING to lose weight. And it can't come off fast enough! So i thought why not whenever i get bored, want to snack, type feeling--just do a mini workout. i mean in addition to my planned exercise.

So I just did 15 each of crunches, lower ab crunches, plank with alternating kicks, and side planks. plus a few modified push ups.

i had already done an arm/abs routine earlier w/ weights...so I just focused on the same muscles. I am starting with 20 min 3x week goal. I don't know if i will do 2 cardio, 2 strength though. I've always favored strength.

my shoulders and arms are pretty sore...but that's the point. I work whatever i've got to exhaustion.
  • Did a TON today.

This morning, I walked my dog for an hour, for a total of 2.6 miles.

This afternoon, I did 35 min/5K of sprint intervals...2 min at 4mph fast walk, 1 min sprint at 9-9.5mph. Followed that with a 35 min interval hill walk workout.

Then tonight, I did an hour of water aerobics, and then two freestyle laps to cool down.
  • My goodness, this heat. Makes hour long workouts drag on forever. Mom suggested I workout with the A/C on since the fan is circulating hot air. Can't because no matter what I'm FREEZING and totally distracted from the frigid A/C.

    Ugh, can't win...ever...
  • I'm just back from my 5K loop around the neighborhood. This is only the second time I've managed to run the whole thing with no walking breaks. It was hard, but I feel great now.
  • ok, this isn't exactly post workout, but I have had time to reflect. I rolled out of bed today, knowing I had a busy schedule. It was 9:15 am. I had an appt. at 11:30 am, and also had tons of errands to complete. I got up, drank a little bit of breakfast shake, and set up the wii...and ran for 20 min. I felt so invigorated. I run on my rebounder, so it is not jolting to my body. I know the wii remote is sensitive, so i put it on my leg/shin. I found i couldn't just shake the wii remote to go faster--so it was more life like with the pace. i did 4.020 miles. But i really pushed it during intervals to get the number. I felt really good afterwards. then i jumped in my pool and laid in the water to relax. When i was done with that--off I went to fulfill my errands! i felt energized, and like i had seized the day.

Today, i am sore from my ab workout, but i recognize that as a good thing.

i love reading how exercise makes everyone feel. I don't know if I will get to the point where I can do an hour in one sitting--but i like hearing how good it makes others feel.
  • Quote: i love reading how exercise makes everyone feel.
Me, too! I may not reply to everyone but I read them all.

I just finished Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs from the Insanity workouts. I feel so great! I remember I used to dread Pure Cardio. I can now do most of the workout. I surprised myself today during Cardio Abs. Last time I did this particular DVD was Monday and I could barely do the ab exercises. Today, I could do most of them.
  • Just went for a 70 minute brisk walk around the neighborhood
  • I'm back from 45 minutes in the pool. I practiced my breaststroke and my freestyle. I'm still not very good at either, but I'm starting to notice slow improvements. I'll figure out this swimming thing yet!
  • yay, agave, i love swimming. it's so relaxing, and can really be a good cardio workout.

Today's theme is LEGS: I am going to work them as many times as I think about it.

i did a 20 minute session. with the following. I did not do sets though.

lunges with weights in hands-20 (alternating)
around the clock: front lunge into a side squat, into a back lunge.-10 each leg.
one legged squats-to exhaustion.--not very good, and boy howdy they hurt.
cross over leg raises-15 each leg
up the stairs sideways, down the stairs-5 steps, 5 times each leg.
giant squats-sumo style raise leg, lower into squat-15 each leg.
standing leg kick backs (hams)-15 each leg
    ballet leg raises-15 each leg
    calf raises-30.
some side to side shuffling to keep the heart rate up in between exercises.

i did this with a pretty good heart rate of 135 so i used circuit training to get a cardio boost.

if any one wants a description of these, i'm not good with the names, let me know!

i began and ended with some stretching--and then jumped in my pool. I love that after getting so hot!
  • Hip Hop Abs Ab Sculpt video with my sweetheart today.
Then we went for a dip in the pool. Did some laps, but it was pretty leisurely. Still a ton of fun!
  • ok, only got one more leg session in. did 20 lunges alternating legs. which is a good thing, cuz i already felt the sore as I was doing those. apparently i woke up those muscles this morning yay!
  • I wish I knew how to swim. I mean, you could throw me in the deep end and I can kick and move my arms and be just fine, but I wish I knew how to swim properly, with face in water and side breathing and all.
