Would this count?
If I were to put on some of my favorite music and just dance around the room for 30-40 minutes, with no specific choreography or order, would that count as exercise? If I were sweating and my heart was beating fast?

I count it! Usually on Friday evening or Saturday morning, I blast the rock music & dance around & get everything done. Kid calls it the "power clean"! Lots of fun & the kid even prefers to do all her chores during the "power clean" then any other time. It usually takes 2 hours to clean from one end of the house to the other, ocd style, it doesn't bother me but the kid says that she gets more of a workout & sore doing it then when she plays sports.

Yes, yes, and yes. Any movement that deviates from my regular routine is exercise in my book. All movement is good.
I think we need to start thinking past 'formal' exercise plans (although there is nothing wrong with that at all!) and just start moving more in general. Especially in the beginning of our journey--it's all good! Dance you @$$ off and have some fun burning those calories ;) |
