60 minutes on elliptical, set at resistance of 7, random intervals, half of this going backward

I wanted to also work with weights, but this was a hurried exercise session, just as this is a hurried post. I am running, running from one errand & task to another. I had to work till noon to get a big assignment completed & handed in before setting out on vacation. (Translating Igor's pidgin English into good business English for our consulting clients.) And I'll be departing within the hour for another state. My clothing is packed & now I must take care of packing the special, special on-plan saef food. Urk. Signing off till at least next Tuesday night, or possibly Wednesday morning.

In Pittsburgh, I stayed at a Comfort Inn that had a small exercise room with a set of aging Life Fitness brand equipment and a lovely fairly long pool. No elliptical, but a stepping machine, which I've tried before at another hotel in this chain. So I used that, handless this time, no railing-holding. Also I swam at the pool one evening, though the families playing made it hard to do decent laps.

Yeah, tell me about the pool problem, Devadiva. I finally figured out this morning that I had to go early, as soon as it opened, to be able to swim laps.
I was at a different hotel last night -- one oriented more toward business travelers -- which had very few children but a lot of guys in khakis wearing nametags around their necks. The pool was empty except for me at 7 AM & a hotel worker cleaning up. ("This your beer?" he said, holding up a half-empty long neck. "Not at this hour," I said.) But before my swim, I had to walk through the continental breakfast area to get to the pool first & I got some rather lingering looks, I suspect because I had on my Speedo with jeans over it, which looked passable but not like I was attending their conference. (The whole t-back thing, you know.) So, anyway:

Tuesday, June 15:

30 minutes swimming, with me dead tired from the week of traveling & six hours in a car the day before & up a bit too early. But no kids in the pool to watch out for, so it was worth it.

Now that I'm home, I was planning to go to my gym & do a spin class tonight, but I feel wiped out. And I feel guilty for feeling wiped out. But I think I need to take it easy. This is a tiredness beyond the usual. I need to rise at 5:15 AM tomorrow & it's back to the office for me.

Feeling guilty because I didn’t workout yesterday and eat a lot, since I went to watch Brazil play at a bar!!! :(

Belezura, I kept going today, and actually, I feel better for my day of rest.

Weights afterward

I hadn't been on a bike for a week. I am slightly slower than I was early last week. Getting out of practice that quickly? Dumbbells felt good in my hand.
None of the hotels had free weights. One just had cardio equipment & the other had some kind of Weider bench that was rusted & busted with parts missing & a sagging poster pinned to the wall showing all the exercises one could do with it. I did just one: overhead lateral pulldown. Every time I came back to the gym, the weight on that station/section was set really, really heavy. My suspicion is kids, playing, since it was near the pool area. Also I didn't see any other guests who looked like they were handling weights, or at least not the weights the machine was set at.
