Freezing in 90°F weather???

  • Ok, so today I walked 3.5 miles--WOW
(I've done it like 3 times before in my whole lofe... I hate exercise )

I walked 2.5 miles the day before yesterday (which I can handle), and then I did 3 yesterday (a bit harder but I didn't die), so I thought I'd "worked my way up"...

Well at about mile-marker 2.5, I started getting this weird "numb" feeling on the back of my head, my shoulders, down my back, and my arms. Tingly... Weird.

About a mile after that, I noticed some goosebumps on my arms.... But it was
    90°F!

When we were done the walk and got in the car I realized that yes, I was actually feeling FREEZING COLD! What the heck???? My friend (who does this walk every single day for over a year and has lost 119lbs--go her!) said I was dehydrated and needed to keep drinking (not chugging but sipping) the water. But swear I had quite a bit of water before we went, and I drank water throughout the whole walk as well...

So was it dehydration? Or am I just a weirdo?? Oh wait nevermind, I know I'm a weirdo..

    But really, what was this??
  • Were you sweaty? As sweat evaporates, it cools the skin. Happens to me quite a bit once I get good and sweaty.
  • I was sweaty, but not pouring buckets (I tend to pour buckets AFTER I stop moving.... So yeah then I got even colder haha)

    Endorphins, baby!

I get that exact, EXACT same feeling-- it's like a rush, back of my head, shoulders, down my back and arms.

And I also get cold when I'm done as the sweat evaporates.

    Keep it up.
  • Sorry but, it didn't feel good at all... In fact I was kinda sick :/

Someone on facebook gave me some links about heatstroke and thinks I was on the verge. Could be.

Don't worry, not giving up! Going again today... I dunno if I can do the whole 3.5 again tho, I got a HELLUVA blood blister on the pad of my left foot, and a HELLUVA regular blister on the right one--I'll go until I can't take anymore, tho!
  • on working out, and don't give up... But you really should not exercise outside when it's that hot and you're just starting... You should increase your workout distance by 10% weekly, you increased, I feel, a bit too much in just 2 days, you're body isn't used to exercise yet, much less exercise in heat...

I have had that goose bump feeling when I run, it was not a good feeling at all completely different that feeling coldish after a good workout because you are wet from sweat...

Hear are two good articles :

  • Hmm. I learned something. I never realized that.
