Today was the official start of my marathon training! I ran/walked a half-marathon in December 2009, but haven't run since then. So today, I hit the pavement and ran 1 mile! I'm very glad I have 9 months to train... because I'm nowhere near 26.2!
I couldn't run anymore after the mile, but I jumped on my bike and rode for an hour!
I am so proud that I went on such a long bike ride after running. It would have been really easy for me to talk myself out of any other exercise since I had already run. But even though I couldn't run anymore, I knew I had some energy left to burn (especially after the mother's day strawberry scones this morning!).
Time on feet means a lot in marathon training so even if you cant run more than 1 mile, toss some walking in for some extra time...it will help you run farther sooner.
