5 days to Boston
I think I am officially freaking out.
|
I wish I had advice, but I don't as I'm just a beginner. But I do want to wish you a successful run and a Happy Patriots' Day! I'll be watching all the excitement on television.
|
Just qualifying is an amazing acheivment! Just keep it simple, keep a level head, have a game plan and stick to it. I'm no marathoner but I find that works for me with most challanges.
|
I'm impressed that you qualified, and I applaud your effort.
I imagine that running the race must be like going on a trip for vacation. All the preparations beforehand are a pain in the butt & nervous-making. But once you're actually embarked on the trip & in motion, you live in the moment & are happy that you're having that experience. Once you start running, and the pack thins out a bit, your body will overtake your mind & you will probably feel better. You'll just be a body in motion, along for the trip. And I hope you will come back & report on it (I will want DETAILS) once it's over, because it's a really wonderful thing. It's the sort of thing that goes in people's obits. (Sorry, that probably sounded weird, but you know what I mean.) Like: "Ran in the Boston Marathon in 2010 (& 2011 & 2012 ;-)." |
heh heh saef The way I have battled through injury and my sporadic training this might just BE my obit.
And yeah, I think the fact that I had to fly my mom in and finish my taxes before I could start to think has definitely added to my stress. And buy a birthday present for dd to take to a party on Saturday. And. And. I cant wait to actually leave the house and have no more time to do anything. |
Oh, ennay, I wish you all the best  ... I know you'll have a great report to give us when you get back... Good luck!!!
|
Best wishes of good luck from me as well .... you will do great!!!
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed, just in case! |

|

If this is all you got.... you better run ba-beee RUN!! |

just bringing this to the top of the page...
ENNAY races in 2 days... you go FAST girl! |
WOOT WOOT -- that would be so incredible! I highly doubt I will ever be ready for that but I am hoping! Good luck! Can't wait to hear all the details!
|
Good luck Ennay, I'm sure you'll do great. Can't wait to hear all about it.
It's the London Marathon on Sunday and I am determined to watch it all this year. I used to watch it as a kid then stopped, but since I started learning to run at the beginning of the year I've become fascinated with watching runners again. I sort of have a dream that I will run my first 5K this year (have signed up for it on 3 July), my first 10K next year, half marathon the year after and then marathon the year after that, when I'll be 40.... Probably just a dream, but will see how I get on in the next few months and how the 5K goes before I decide it's impossible lol. |
This morning, driving to work, I heard the radio deejays passing time by talking about the Boston Marathon, and I thought to myself: "Ennay is running today."
Good luck to Ennay. (I'm concentrating really hard on sending good wishes silently through my laptop at my job.) Hope you have an exciting & satisfying race. I look forward to your account of what it was like for you. |
Can't wait to hear how it went! I know you'll do great!!
|
Ennay, how did it go? Please post an update!
|
Hope it went well Ennay! I've been cheering for you in my head all morning!
|
Was hoping for "news".....
|
Still hoping for news... just bumping this to the top of the page so hopefully she sees it and lets us know. However it went it's simply amazing that she was there.

I had a great time in Boston, although not a terrific race. But I feel pretty good and met my main goal of not reinjuring anything. It's been a really rough 18 months and while I had hoped to run Boston more as a victory lap and less like a victory parade, it still was a great time.
I met up with a ton of online running friends and had a great time both before and after the race. The full blow by blow: http://www.runningahead.com/logs/444...5dd296e7d78566 MTA: if you ever get a chance to be in boston take the elevator up to one of the room floors in the Westin Copley. They have mirrors at the end of the elevator bank that makes everyone look 3 inches taller and 30 lbs lighter. I loved those mirrors. |
And this article is about one of my online running friends that I have done 2 marathons with now.

Awesome! Thanks for the update, ennay, and congrats on your accomplishment!
|
Congrats, Ennay!!!
|
Congratulations, Ennay.
And now I have a new quote to think about: Ennay: "I had natural childbirth, I can do f....ing ANYTHING for an hour (or so)." :-D |
Ennay, congratulations. And baby those blisters!
|
:carrot: I finally had time to get in here to see how you did :carrot:
Love your story  Sounds a lot like my daughter's accounts of her last 2 marathons....except for the "childbirth"...quote... dang...still no grandkids... OK...this is not about me!....;) I am so proud of you!! Angie just took off for work but I can't wait for her to read your story....she could have written it too! Get some sleep ;) |
Way to go ennay
|
Thanks all!
And Gary, your daughter will look at marathons in a whole new light after kids. I actually prefer the much smaller marathons ...4 hours of blissful silence is a-ok! |
