Exercise and Calorie Question
Hello. I just got a new stationary bike with a computer that calculates how many calories you burn. I was wondering if I burn 500 calories per day, would that be sufficient, or should I strive to burn more calories per day?? Thanks

Hi Renee,
Actually, calorie calculators are misleading. In an article I read somewhere, it says that you actually might burn up to 30% less than indicated. This has to do with the averages used in the calculation. Also, not one person is the same in calorie spending, because of activity levels, body weight, muscle % etcetc. it's a lot better to calculate the time you spend on the bike and the resistance (intensity) you use (start easy according to your fitness level!), starting at 15-20 minutes a day and going up to 40-60, 4-5 times a week. You'd see results pretty soon, slow but steady (in combination with a good food program) Good luck, Greekgirl from Athens, Greece For any questions, mail me |
