Ouch! My quad...!
I was working out with my personal trainer tonight and I was doing lunges with the front foot on a bosu ball.
All of a sudden, there was this AWFUL loud popping sound that we both heard and I felt a sharp pain in my upper quad, right across the front. I took some advil and am icing it. It's not super painful, but it feels weird/sore and it it makes me limp a little. I'm SO FRUSTRATED. Any advice? I have to work on my feet all day tomorrow, and I have a feeling it's going to get even more sore. |
I'd say keep icing it, and then maybe put a heat wrap on it as soon as you wake up and wear it all day if you can fit it under your clothes.

This might sound crazy, but don't keep it still for too long. Keep moving. By that I don't mean doing more lunges, but rather walking. You'll probably find that once you sit or lie down, the pain will get worse when you start moving again.
Anyway, you might want to go and see a physical therapist to see if it's not injured to the extent of severity that it requires special treatment... |
Happy to report that despite the HORRIBLE RIPPING SOUND, it's actually much better already. Today I can barely feel it. Will run again tomorrow.
Phew!!! |
You were actually on my mind today, oh Ubergirl, whom I have never in my life met, except in 3FC posts. I came out of spin class with sore quads and was wincing going up stairs later today & feeling sorry for myself until I thought: "Don't you dare whine. What about that woman whose quad made a HORRIBLE RIPPING SOUND while she was exercising the other day?"
Glad to hear it didn't disengage & roll upward & flap like a loose window shade. Which is kind of the mental image I was carrying around with me.:eek: |

I feel pretty lucky-- I was positive I had done some serious damage, and it turned out to be pretty minor after all. |
