Exercise bike or elliptical machine?
 
Right now jogging and even walking on a treadmill is too much for my knees. So my other choice is a bike or elliptical...what does everyone prefer?

I enjoy both of them. I like the bike because you extend your legs more so it feels like I am stretching kind of and using more muscles. But the elliptical makes me feel like I got a better workout because you use your upper and lower body. If your knees are bothering you I would try the elliptical first and see how your knees handle it. It is a lower impact machine for the knees but of course you still are bending your knees with every stride so it will depend on what movements bother your knees the most. There are two kinds of bikes to: one that is more upright so you are peddaling beneath your center of gravity kind of (like a regular bike) and there is one where your legs are more infront of you like when you are sitting on the floor with your legs straight out. So that might be an option to depending on what movement bothers your knees.

Hope I could help a little... They are both very good my two favorites! I have bad ankles therefor after like 10 minutes on the treadmill I start limping, and my ankles don't bother me on the bike (either one) or on the elliptical!

Very tough, as I love both!

Like club said, there are 2 types of exericise bikes, the upright one, and the stretch out one. I prefer the stretch out one over the upright because I like the stretching of the legs...makes me feel like I'm getting more out of my time. I also really like that I can see my legs stretched out in front for me to see, because as I spin I can watch the muscles in my legs working and that's a great motivator...it makes me want to spin FASTER! :D

And I do think it would be great on your knees, since they're stretched and and the motion involved isn't strenuous on them, so you'll be able to go for a good workout on it. :)
