Started doing 2 reps today...
I did 1 rep on my weight training machines for 2 weeks as suggested by the guy who made my work out schedule. Today I started 2 reps and WOW. It was crazy. I could barley finish!!! It felt great when I was done though, and I did all of it. What is the max amount of reps you should do? Like one day will I be doing 10 reps of 12??
My other question, is when I first started working out almost about 2 weeks ago, I was able to be on the treadmill for 45 minutes and be fine. I am at the same speed now but can barley make it to 30 minutes!! I really want to do 45 minutes of cardio. I am just not sure whats going on! Any advice would be great :) Thanks so much!!1 |
That's great that you're making progress.
As to total number of reps, there is a lot that goes into it, especially (i) how much weight you are trying to move (i.e., if you try to bench press 5 lbs, you will be able to do more reps than if you try to bench press 100 lbs), (ii) what your fitness goals are. You want to ultimately want to be able to to 6-10 reps with a weight before increasing the weight. Are you doing cardio on same day as you are doing weights? If so, are you doing before or after your workout? Maybe you're a little more tired lately because you added weights to your workout. Just keep at it and add little more time or speed each week until you get to your goal of 45 minutes. One thing I like to do when I work out indoors on machines is do 20 minutes of one cardio followed by 20 minutes of another type (i.e., treadmill, stationary bike, eliptical). Kind of breaks things up and keeps things more interesting. |
