Terrible workout

  • I had the worst workout that I can remember today... I don't know if it's that I didn't eat properly today (and truthfully I didn't eat as well as I should have) or if it's that I had a massage 30 minutes before my workout but I hit the wall during the workout and I hit it HARD. I was running with my trainer and I had to stop several times - which I never have to do - and I almost threw up (literally) more than once. The hill sprints were a write off. I was maybe at 50% of my ability. So disappointed in myself.

Anyone else have days like this?
  • It's only one day maybe you just need a rest day.

Hey your workout was better then mine...I actually DID throw up but at least it was after I was done. First time I ever had exercise induced sickness.
  • I think it's because of massage. Your muscles were relaxed and you forced them into workout. Don't worry, just rest one day and you'll be fine.
  • Bad days do happen and I get them too but I would think it's definitely the massage.
  • Thanks guys. I'm feeling MUCH better today. Hopefully yesterday was massage induced and won't happen again!
  • Next time do the massage after the workout--or on a totally different day.

I don't know if it's true or not, but twice when I've had massages they've told me to drink plenty of water because the massage releases toxins and you need the water to flush it out.

    Glad you're feeling better
  • ^ interesting point! I wonder if a release of toxins could have been what made me feel nauseated? It was something I've never experienced before.

    Thanks for all the support.
  • It could also partly be due to what you ate. I definitely notice a difference in my workouts, usually for the worse, on the days that I don't eat on plan. If I've eaten particularly poorly, I'll sometimes feel a little sick.

But I agree with ddc--next time schedule the massage for after the workout. It's a great to have a massage after you work out; it will help with soreness. And, by working out shortly after your massage, all your muscles are going to tense right back up again and you lose some of the benefits of the massage. I try to stay as relaxed as possible, for as long as possible, after I get a massage.
