Anyone doing ChaLEAN Extreme??

  • I just started the Push phase of CLX and I'm a little confused. I always thought that I'd be sore after an intense weight workout. I got used to the weights during the Burn phase and stopped getting sore. But yesterday I did the first Push workout and I increased the amount of weight I use, and it was definitely hard while I was doing it. My muscles were shaking and I felt like I fatigued the muscles. But I'm not sore today! Is that normal? Am I SUPPOSED to be sore?? Because I don't feel like I'm getting a good workout without the pain afterwards!!

I'm doing P 90 X which is produced by the same company. I've been resistance training since June and it takes a LOT to get me sore now. I experienced the same thing and in fact I've talked a lot about it with my trainer. Especially if you are flexible, and your body is used to working out, I dont think it's unusual to not get sore. When I first worked out in June I could not walk for days afterward LOL These days, the only thing that makes me sore is calf raises and calf/hamstring stretches. It's pretty much impossible to get the upper body soreness now. My trainer suggests this is due to upper body flexibility, which makes sense since I'm much more flexible up top than below the waist. But I know what you mean, all the weight lifters talk about "Feel the burn" and "no pain no gain" ...can you increase your weight to try to get it, if you need a little burn to feel like you've really worked out?

The weights I'm using are pretty heavy, and if I increase them I probably wouldn't be using good form. I guess I'll stick with it for a few weeks and see if I continue to get results. I guess I can live without the soreness as long as I know all this hard work is paying off!!

Yes yes, I know how you feel! I was feeling that I wasn't getting a good workout because of the lack of soreness but my trainer convinced me otherwise. Maybe getting a bodyfat scale that measures in ounces or 10th's of pounds could help you see what's going on with your LBM? Good luck and keep it up!
  • Soreness does not indicate good or bad workout. I've been working out for years and haven't been sore in a long time.

Do whatever weight you can do that is heaviest without sacrificing form. If you start to sacrifice form, you will be sore, but that's not a good thing

Sounds like you are doing great!
  • I took measurements after my first 30 days and I lost a total of 4 inches all over! Doesn't sound like much but I'm VERY excited!! So I guess I must be doing something right.
