Sore Calves

The past few days my calves have been very sore. They are even tender to the touch. The only extra exercise I have added the past week is free stepping for 30 minutes with Wii Fit. Could this have caused it?

I don't exactly know what free stepping is, but I would imagine it could cause soreness to your calves from the name. Mine get sore after running sometimes, and used to get sore when I was in marching band.

Is it possible you are starting to develop a tendonitis in one of your calf tendons? just a thought...i started having pain inmy calves, that made them tender to even touch, and it turned out to be post tibial tendonitis....

It's where you step on and off the wii board repeatedly.

Do you do it daily? Maybe change it to every other day to give your calves a rest?

This could definitely cause calf pain if you're not used to doing stepping as an exercise or a regular activity.

Yeah I just started it 3 days ago and my calves started hurting the day after I started :|

It could be just muscle soreness because they're working hard and getting stronger!! Doesn't necessarily mean you should stop. My $0.02. I get sore calves from running if I take a long break and then start up again. It's usually pretty hard to walk down stairs for a few days, but then it goes away and is fine.

You could RICE, rest, ice, compression and elevation...

Here is an article on it: RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation Best Treatment for Acute Injuries

Hope this helps...

Thanks Ilene. This is something I should do today and tomorrow since they are my exercise off days :)
