Clueless about HR monitors...
 

So I was at the polar website looking at ALL of the different heart rate monitors they have and I'm confused. They aren't very descriptive...I just want something simple that does the beep thing if my heart rate drops below targed and it counts calories burned. I'm totally new to heart rate monitors and I have no idea how they work. I've read that some monitors have chest straps? how does that work? I've been looking into things like body bugg and go wear fit, and I love the idea of wearing it on your upper arm instead of sticking something to your chest, I just don't like the monthly fee crap. Does polar offer anything like that? Does anyone? lol any help is really appreciated. :^:

DEF go with a chest strap!! They arent uncomfortable at all ( at least 4 me)...and after the first time you wear it, you wont even notice it anymore, and its way ore accurate..any of the ones where you have to rest your fingers on a button, or hold something down while it reads HR is a huge pain..the chest strap piece continuously sends the signal to the wrist watch unit. and polars are very easy to use..just get the lowest end model that HAS a chest strap, and also indicated when your outside training zone

I agree that you would probably be best with a HR chest strap. I have a Sensewear that I use for my daily tracking but I do wear the Garmin 305 with chest strap when running to track my heartrate during exercise.
