Suggest me some awesome workout songs!

I'm not picky, any songs that have a great beat and get you going are welcome!

munchievictim 06-29-2009 12:07 AM

Flower by Moby. I don't even like Moby but this song gets me started.
And that So What song by Pink does it too :D

CamiToo 06-29-2009 12:12 AM

I personally like Britney Spears, Shakira and limited Christina Aguilera songs for working out.

Me too + anything by Lady Gaga and Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" - the beat is perfect for pounding the pavement (or dreadmill) or even using the rowing machine.

I would not be admitting any of this in the real world :D

WhitePicketFences 06-29-2009 10:13 AM

Lately, I put on the 80s music channel, on the home tv. But I know a lot of people here are looking for specific songs for the ipod ... But still, consider that there are some pumped-up 80s songs!

Glory87 06-29-2009 10:27 AM

Here are some of mine:

Get the Party Started - Pink
Single Ladies - Beyonce
Never Going Back to Ok - The Afters (I think the song is about a relationship, but to me it's about a relationship with food!)
Booty Voodoo - Lee Coulter (an ode to sexy butts!)

Glory... that's one long workout! ;)

Glory87 06-29-2009 11:29 AM

Heh, it's not for one workout - it's just my workout playlist. I re-order it all the time to hear certain songs!

marbear24 06-29-2009 11:36 AM

I second WhitePicketFences' suggestion for the 80's. Scandal, Pat Benetar, Joan Jett, etc... really work for me.

Idealperson 06-29-2009 12:22 PM

I like "Waking up in Vegas" and "The Warrior".

Beckster 06-29-2009 12:29 PM

for me i like to go (hard) house and hip hop!

The Prodigy - Outer Space (or is that "out of"??)
Chemical Brothers - Block Rockin' Beats
Eminem - we made you
Jay-Z - Big Pimpin, 99 Problems
Strike - U Sure Do
Sweet Dreams are made of this...

and some cheesy 80s/90s....
Hangin on the telephone - Blondie
Once in a Lifetime - Talking Heads

I love finding new music

CandieRae 06-29-2009 03:54 PM

Glory, I have alot of those on my playlist! Apparently, I love Beyonce when I'm working out! Thanks for all suggestions ladies. I'm gonna look for some good 80s tunes right now.

Coldplay - Clocks (Heaven and Earth Division Remix)
Madonna - Music (Cowgirl goes Crazy Remix)
The Bodyrockers - I Like the Way You Move

Ain't No Rest for the Wicked - Cage the Elephant
Pump It - Black Eyed Peas

Delphi 06-30-2009 07:12 PM

You can't go wrong with Rocky's theme song, "Eye of the Tiger", that song gets me pumped every time I hear it. ;)

This is my all time favorite treadmill song! I put it on when I'm starting to run out of gas in my last 5 minutes of running.

ninepaw 07-01-2009 03:54 PM

This thread just makes me smile SO much. Music is the BEST motivator when you're excercising, I love it! This also reminds me that I need to head into iTunes and make myself a workout playlist... I put my whole library on shuffle the last couple of nights and there's just too many songs that don't do the trick!

Rochester 07-13-2010 10:11 PM

Glory, I'm gonna add almost everything from your list to my MP3! Awesome songs! :D

(Yah, I know this thread is oldish, but I was searching for posts with song suggestions... ;) )

ImpalaHoarder 07-13-2010 10:29 PM

My very favorite band for workout songs is Mindless Self Indulgence, at least so long as you don't mind obscenity. Sort of an electrical sound and a really strong beat, and generally a pretty good pace for jogging.

My favorite MSI songs:
Never Wanted to Dance
Shut Me Up
Stupid MF
B*****s (well, the uncensored version of that title)

On a much cleaner note, Peacemaker by Sonata Arctica also has a really good slow jogging pace and strong beat, as well as a pretty epic guitar solo which always distracts me from the jogging pain.

As far as bouncy, peppy songs I'm a fan of 500 Miles by The Proclaimers as well as some Mika songs- favorites being:

Grace Kelly
Billy Brown
Lollipop
Love Today

Rochester: Thanks for dredging this up. I love music threads. I'm always looking for new things to add to my workout playlist.

ninepaw 07-13-2010 11:21 PM

Wow. I posted in here over a year ago! I can actually add some suggestions though:

Harder to Breathe - Maroon 5
Can't Stop - Maroon 5
Shut Up - Simple Plan (Love thinking about anyone that may doubt my ability to reach my goals when this one comes on... :D)
Suddenly I See - KT Tunstal
Lucky (Short Stuff Remix) - Lucky Twice
Any of Mika's upbeat songs

Gotta love music... :D

SpoonSockSpork12 07-14-2010 12:59 AM

Glory87 I am super impressed that you include We the Kings, Metro Station, and +44 in your list--all songs of theirs that I include in mine too!

This is a fun thread. Here are a few of mine:

Akon: Beautiful
Foo Fighters: The Best of You

mthrgoos68 07-14-2010 12:57 PM

Being a child of the 80's, all my workout songs are 80's tunes! :carrot: I'm a dork, what can I say! :dizzy:
Some of my favorites are:

Footloose (Gets me moving even if I'm not working out!)
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Hey Mickey
We Got The Beat
Our Lips Are Sealed
Lets Hear It For The Boy

Totally dorky, but it works for me!

sweetnlow28 07-14-2010 01:09 PM

I like this thread, even if its old LOL. Good songs never die :) I am not "up" on music so I have a hard time finding songs sometimes. They have to have a cerain beat to get me going. Threads like this are helpful. I just check out the songs on youtube to see if I can get into them ;) I don't have my play list handy but a few of my favorites are:

Lady Gaga: bad romance, poker face
Lots of Black Eyed Peas including, I got a feeling, Im A Be, My Humps
Sweet Child Of Mine
Salt n Peppa: Push It, Shoop
Eminem: Just Lose It, Lose Yourself
Miley Cyrus: The Climb (good cool down, motivational)

neveragainbabe 07-14-2010 01:13 PM

I listen to Beatles radio on Pandora (actually 'Love Me Do Radio' 'cos I found just plain "Beatles" is too wide a spectrum for what they throw out).... I walk for my exercise, and I only have to skip a few slow ones...

OMG - Usher
Sexy ***** - David Guetta feat. Akon

I'm a little schizophrenic in my music tastes, but here is my current jogging playlist (songs are around 4 minutes each):

Cold Play: Viva la Vida
Paul Simon: Late in the Evening
Beyonce: Crazy in Love
Michael Franti & Spearhead: I Say Hey (I love you)
Outkast: Hey Ya
Eric Hutchinson: Rock & Roll
Mary J. Blige: Family Affair

I was thinking I should add a little Gloria Gaynor (I Will Survive), TobyMac (Get Back Up), and Brandon Heath (Wait and See). Inspirational lyrics!!

Great thread! I'm definitely updating my IPod tonight :).

Lilyheart 07-15-2010 12:39 PM

Now I feel much older then I am! I prefer Swing/Big Band music for moving. I find it impossible to sit still with The Andrew Sisters playing (so I play this when I need to do housework too!).

Rochester 07-15-2010 01:53 PM

Oh, I'm so glad people added more suggestions! I can't wait to check them out.

blindcantaloup 07-17-2010 08:47 PM

If you like that upbeat girly dancy music that a lot of people are recommending, try some Sia. She's an aussy that's just starting to get a little fame.

Sia : The Fight
Sia : Big Girl Little Girl
Sia: Clap your hands

firefliesandpixies 07-17-2010 08:55 PM

Anything by Gogol Bordello...such high energy!

Elijahs phoenix 07-17-2010 11:28 PM

I love Eminem new song Not Afraid! I know he is referring to drug addictions but, I have been addicted to food.
