Exercise: How must to start with and how much now...
Ok so I never exercise....well now I don't. I seem to go through spurts of really trying hard but other than what I am sure are the health benefits it never seems to help my weight!
So anyway I have not been exercising lately and have decided to just measure in minutes how much 'movement' I get. I am hoping to get a combination of walking, yoga before bed (relaxed stretching), dvd's (a big variety-never used), maybe some hot yoga (wanna try it) or more strenuous yoga, and kettle bells for strength training (plus body weight exercises). I hope by counting minutes and movement that I can build up my exercise and make it a good habit. I want the health benefits and hope it will help me lose although historically it never seems to help (even with calorie counting). Anyway any advice, I was thinking of starting with 400 min. for May, anyone have an idea of what I should try for each month and how much to build up to keep from overdoing it. Thanks for any advice :) I currently don't do much at all, so walking while the kids play on the playground is an upgrade. |
How about just starting in on something to see how far you can go in one stretch?
This will provide you a starting point of reference and then you can build onto it. I think your ideas sound really good. |
As long as you START and CONTINUE, you're doing good... as you get fitter you'll need and maybe want to do more...

I agree, just start! I starting doing 1 mile walking and 4 on the bike - those are my absolutely minimums for a 30-minute exercise.
Good luck! |
