Does it really matter..?
Does it really matter what time of day you exercise..night or day?
cause I have a 4 year old and a 6 months old..it's crazy because as soon as I put them down for a nap and pick up after them..get started on the elliptical..my 6 month old wakes up and then I have to feed her and then by the time she's feed the 4 year old is up and she wants lunch....and time just slips away so easily ... and I attend school online full time... how do you ladies and gents do it? Some nights I don't even get to sleep until 1am 11pm at the earliest. |
Is there anyway you can join a YMCA or gym with a nursery....? I gave up exercising at home with kids.... it's impossible. Right now is a good time to look as gyms are ready to slash joining fees etc with the economy being bad...

It depends on what sort of exercise you're doing. I've been reading up on this and have asked some professional trainers about it.
Exercise is exercise, so burning calories goes on anytime you're doing it. But some things, like weight training, are better left for later in the day. Stretching, Pilates, Yoga and any cardio are great earlier in the day. Your joints have fluids still in them from while you were sleeping and those sorts of activities help get the fluids moved out and into the rest of the body. Weight training in the morning puts too much pressure on the joints. Training in the afternoon, after you've taken most of your nutrients for the day, is good so that your muscles have fuel to use. That sort of workout, training to fatigue, will get you ready for sleep, which is when your muscles work at recovering. I'm doing school online as well...a double major. Although I don't have kids at home for the time being, I will have them again soon, plus I care for my aging parents. I'm scrambling to keep to my homework schedule while dealing with dropping everything to run my mother to the store or take my dad to the doctor. I know your life is looking very full now! Keep in mind that this is only a stage of your life. Children grow (too slowly at times and too fast at other times!) and time passes and there will always be a huge list of things to do on top of caring for your family, your health and your personal life ambitions. Try not to fill your life with too many things. Really, keeping life as simple as possible for yourself is a key to success. Do the really important things, and get good, regular sleep. Make time to exercise, incorporate your children into some type of exercise. Lay your 6 month old beside you on the floor and do crunches. I have 6 children and work full time and for the past 3 weeks have exercised 6 days a week for 30 minutes and have never felt better in 33 years.

mommyofsix you are truly a super mom.....I take my hat off to you we are about the same when it comes to the weight thing...I started out at 242 and I'm at 222 now...
I set a goals: 215 by mothers day 200 by June 8th - taking kids to SeaWorld back home in Texas 185 by then end of July- I'll have help from my big sister with this while I'm in Texas for the summer " She just lost 150lbs " 170-175max by the end of August " Hubby coming home from overseas"... I get excited when I hear about people loosing 20lbs in a month and I'll try to do it and then I'm not exactly successful at it....and then I get in a slump...which takes me what seems like forever to get back out of it and going again. |
