what would you do?

i was at the gym tonight. The gym is very small. In the cardio section we have 3 rows of cardio machines that has about 10 machines per row. I am on the first row doing my 5K (mostly running). There was noone in that row. I always turn big fan on that blows on me and always ask if there are other people if it would bother them. SO i am 70% done. Ok, now comes a 60 years old woman who wanted to do eliptical for a while. She came and turned off the fan. I had no chance to say anything. And she never asked if i needed a fan. Ok, the fan got turned off by her, i felt like someone cut my throught because literally there is awlays at least 90C at the gym. ANd can you imagine running in pure heat!! So i had to finish my work out and i felt like i cant run like that. Finally 10 mins later the boy was standing at that wall where the switch was... so i gave him a sign to turn it on... and he did.... but how would you react if you were sweating like a horse even with fan on and soneone would turn it off without asking? That fan was a life support to me! lol

I would say "I'm sorry, I'm really more comfortable with the fan on. Can we move it so it's hitting me and not you?"

It was rude to turn it off without asking if people were using it, but she may not have realized how important it was. Usually, once asked, people will realize they are not the only people in the gym and accomodate accordingly.

wow. pretty rude. I'd have said something immediately to let her know that was not cool (no pun intended).

Honestly, she probably didn't even realize you were using it, but it was pretty rude for her to turn it off. I would have just went and turned it back on and made sure it wasn't hitting her. I also would have probably gave her a dirty look! LOL!

well the fan is attached to the wall and it will hit her no matter what.... unless she wanted to use another equipment that is not derectly under that fan line.... i did give her a look but she didnt look at me lol..

LOL - I love your honest answer! You're so cute.

I would probably do what mandalinn82 said.

i have a very very tiny gym, and our problem is the tv. i've had to sit through other people keeping on gorey bloodfeasts or like soft porn (LOL) and the very rare times that i actually get the remote and put on lifetime, everyone acts like they are so put out.

And they are all right ready to grab the remote. My fav was when i told a guy he could flipp around and he shut it off completely and put his headphones on. LOL

I have done this and no one was upset... You just ask politely...
