initial weight gain.... is that normal?

Hi all!

I have a quick exercise question....! I have only recently begun to exercise (today will be the 3rd day) along with having a healthy diet..... I started off at 136 a few days ago, and this morning I'm at 138!!!!
I KNOW I haven't eaten badly.... so what caused this gain?? I read somewhere that, due to exercise and muscles retaining water to heal, you might gain some initial weight when you begin working out........... is this true? Could that be happening to me?

please advise! :o

It is true that for some people when they begin to exercise that they actually will have a little gain at first. As your body gets used to it, it should go away :)

This is very common. As you begin to exercise you muscles will try to "repair" themselves. In order to do this, you retain water in those areas. Keep going and you will see some awesome results.

I'm having sort of the same thing happen (been exercising and monitoring my eating for 2 weeks). I keep edging up the scale then all of a sudden I have a dramatic loss. I'm trying to ignore what the scale says and just go by how I feel and how my clothing fits..... but sometimes it's so hard. You want to see those numbers move too.

When I first started I gained 5 pounds right off the bat. I didn't actually LOSE any weight, at all, for two or three weeks, but it came off eventually. Keep it up!!
