Hey all! We're a group (okay mainly 3) that post together under what was called "Going to the Gym Today?", but because we don't all go to "gyms" per say, we decided to open it up to any type of regular exercise, so welcome!

Anyway, Copperblu, I had a feeling that you may have been sick.... I hope you get lots of rest and feel better soon!

I am looking forward to Curves today, and then bowling again tonight. We are going over to friend's for dinner before and I've already cut back on cals in preparation for it. I'm also drowning in the water I'm drinking!

Anyway, welcome to our new thread, and we'll talk to ya later!

I just wrote a long post and somehow lost it! Don't you just hate that

Mini Mony 02-28-2001 09:22 AM

Any way....

MarvinTM Hi and thanks for starting the new thread.

Copper Take care of yourself and get well soon!

Any Lurkers out there? Do you think a daily exercise check-in would be a great tool to keep you motivated! Please join us! Share tips and inspiration, because I for one am not a natural born exercise lover. I need all the help I can get!

Well, I went to the Y yesterday (1st time in over a year) I signed up for a water aerobics class...I though I would basically be keeping my Mom company (trying to get her to start an exercise program). In fact I figured I'd need to add a few laps of swimming afterwards to get a really good workout. But those "little old ladies" in that class kick butt! I couldn't believe it when they finished up the hour then swam down to the deep end for some aqua jogging. I'm going to try to get that class in two days a week...it should be alot of fun.

Today I really wimped out of exercise. Only about 20 minutes of Firm: Not so Tough Aerobics.

I also posted my upcoming workout rotation - but it was lost on the other post. I'll post it again tomorrow.

Nite all http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif

MarvintheMartian 02-28-2001 09:48 PM

Mini! Thanks for posting for lurkers too! The more, the merrier, right?

I am so excited! We got a new machine at Curves yesterday to work the love handles, and it sure works! Talk about muscles that I don’t normally use! <IMG SRC="http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif"> It should be a great addition!

I did however splurge too much on dinner. We went to a friend’s place, for his “famous” chili, and it was delicious! Oh well, I drank more water after to help flush it out, and am dedicated to making today a clover day!

Copper, I hope you’re feeling better soon… we miss you!

This week:

Today
- Curves
- Marching video
Thursday
- Curves
- Swimming
Friday
- Curves (noticing a pattern!?)
- Marching video

Yes, I am one of the lurkers!!!! Need the motivation you are offering.

I walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes this a.m. after turning down the volume on the t.v. and loading many songs from napster on the computer for my listening enjoyment. Sweated, but felt good. Didn't get a chance to exercise yesterday because of my work schedule and a hair cut appt at night.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

Mini Mony 03-01-2001 03:40 AM

Welcome mustang sally! I'm glad you joined us. It sounds like you got a good workout today. I wish I had a treadmill because it looks like better weather is on it's way so I won't have any excuse not to get out walking more!

MarvinTM I could certainly use a machine for love handles! :D I also splurged a little too much yesterday. I had a taste of cheese cake...then it was all downhill from there. I topped that with much more than a taste of spice cake, fried shrimp, salad w/ blue cheese dressing and a baked potato with whipped butter AND sour cream. I can't figure out what that sour cream was about. I weened myself of that years ago. And it so ruined the taste of the potato...oh well. Now I just have to concentrate on not having two off days in a row.

MustangSally! Welcome to our thread! It's great to have you here! I too, wish that I had a treadmill, and I could watch my soap (taped) every evening and get about 45 minutes in! Maybe someday.... right now, no room, no money!

AAAAARRGHHH! Mini Mony! It seems like yesterday was bad for a lot of people around here! It must be something in all this water! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif

Anyway, I am pooping out so bad right now! I have to go grocery shopping after I go to Curves, and then go home and cook supper, and work out (!), and eat, and watch my soap, and on and on.....

I don't know why you keep losing those posts. They're all your workout schedule, right? Hmmm.... Now that it's finally up, it looks like a great schedule. Which Taebo do you do? I have the original tapes, but I could never seem to get the hang of it. Maybe I'll give it another try one of these days.

BTW, thanks for the lessons in bold writing!

Hey everyone...Lurker here! :p
I also post on the
'All Air Walkers/Gliders/Ellipticals/
Treadmill/Regular Walkers #21'
thread on this board.
I follow the Body-For-Life program for exercise (and eating, etc.). I entered the challenge just about a week and a half ago. I LOVE it! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif !
My exercise schedule goes like this...
***3x a week I do the "20 Min. Aerobic Solution" on my Elliptical trainer first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I can go into that in more detail if any one is curious, but for now I'll just explain it as high intensity interval training.
***3x a week I spend approx. 45-50 minutes doing high intensity weight training.
I alternate days of cardio and weight training. For examp.
Mon-cardio---Tues-weights---Wed-cardio---etc.
On the 7th day (Sunday) I take a "free day" and skip the exercise and eat a meal or two I wouln't normally eat (ie-Burger King) in moderation. I LOVE my program! :D
It sounds like you all really like your programs also! That's awesome! It is great to find a program that fits your lifestyle! And also one that works! I have heard alot about Curves in the States. I'm glad you gals really enjoy it! I live in Okinawa, Japan on a US Airforce base, so I luckily get to use the gym for free. It is a really awesome gym, too! And it is open 24 hours a day! I never have an excuse to miss a workout! SO, I haven't missed one yet! I hope to keep that record throughout my challenge!
Well, I'll talk to you all later! It was nice to meet you!

Hi all! Hi lurkers! Welcome!

I'm back! (kind of) Still sick, but made it into work today and feel more like I'm among the living. I've still got a nasty cough + stuffy head though, so I'm not looking to jump back on the exercise wagon for a few more days. Which is annoying, because I'd actually started looking forward to it.
So, next few days: drink more water than I thought humanly possible, and sleep a LOT. That's the one thing that seems to help the most. Hopefully I'll be up for a little neighborhood walking with DH this weekend, because right now my muscles feel atrophied from all this forced inactivity. I just slept + lay about + barely ate anything. Now I feel like a recovering invalid.

So, if I'm better, the plan for next week:
M: Firm Basics: Fatburning
T: Firm Basics: Sculpting w/Weights
W: Firm Basics: Fatburning
Th: Firm Basics: Sculpting w/Weights
F: walking
Sat: walking
Sun: walking

I'm so annoyed! I was ready to start the next rotation, and now I have to start all over!! Grr!!!!

Anyways, I'll try to check in again later and/or tomorrow, since there's a lot I've missed!

Take care!

MarvintheMartian 03-02-2001 12:52 AM

Hi Islandmama! Wow! Japan! That must be awesome, although I would miss my family terribly. My hubby is an ag mechanic, so not much chance of moving to somewhere exotic! Oh well. Have you been anywhere else? My mom was an army brat, and moved all over Canada, but I’ve only ever lived here in Southern Alberta. I am 25, married 21 months, no human kids, 12 barn cat babies, 3 housecats, (1 handraised orphan, Punky, who is my baby), 2 dogs (both rescued), 2 fish tanks, and 2 budgies! Anyway, welcome!

copperblu! Great to see you’re feeling better, and looking forward to exercising. Just remember not to push yourself too hard, or you’ll never get better. (That’s something I’ve been accused of before!)

I had a great day yesterday, lots of water, good eating, extra exercise! I am still beaming from the fact that I actually did my marching video last night, when all I really wanted to do is crash. Then I got up early this morning and gave yoga a try. I only made it through about 10 minutes, before I wore myself out (that’s really hard work!) I had planned on swimming this morning, but decided to try the yoga instead. Anyway, I won’t be doing it again in the am, since hubby complained it woke him up… bleh!

Also, it’s weighin and measuring day for me at Curves, so I have extra motivation to keep myself in check for today. Drinking gallons of water in preparation.

Talk to you all later!
Marvin

islandmama 03-02-2001 07:25 AM

Hi, thanks for the WELCOME!
  • Okinawa is a really nice place to live, for us anyway. There are some people here who don't like it, but those are usually the people who don't go out in the island and explore. I love the weather, especially this time of year. It stays in the 70's and 80's and it isn't real humid yet. Summer weather gets VERY hot, but even that is cool with me, I HATE  cold weather!
This is only our 2nd base, we were stationed in California before this, and are trying to go to Italy after this assingment is up next year. We have been here since May of 1998!
  • I did my UB workout yesterday, and I'm about jump on my elliptical for my cardio today. So, I'm off for the day! See ya later!

Glad to hear everyone had a good day. I was out the door early this morning for work. Did my workout early this evening while i watched QVC. It is Silver Day on QVC - so many awesome things, but i didn't buy anything yet. My workout this evening was a 45 minute walk on the treadmill.

I am sad because my friend, Mike Sukpin, on Survivor II was the one who was burned on the show tonight. I know he is o.k. now because he had breakfast with my husband this morning, but it made me cry to see him in so much pain. It will be fun to see him on the talk show curcuit starting with CBS tomorrow morning, then Dave Letterman, and then Regis and Kelly. Glad i had points left from today in case i feel the need to eat.

On the complete other end of the spectrum, my husband found out he is the final candidate for a job he interviewed for last week. What a range of emotions in about 5 minutes.

Thanks for listening. It has been a stressful, but good night.

Sally

Mini Mony 03-02-2001 07:29 PM

Morning everyone!!!

Sally Welcome. I'm watching CBS morning now. Mike looks great now but I can't believe how these cast members come home and still keep their families totally in the dark. He says his family only found out he was evacutated out last night while watching the show. Do the producers force the cast members to sign over their first born child if they spill any secrets? Anyway, I'm glad that if the show had the actual accident on tape they decided not to show it.

Copperblu I'm so glad you're starting to feel a little better. Your symptoms sound a lot like a virus that is really going around here. Maybe getting out to walk in the fresh air will help a little.

Islandmama I have an uncle who is retired from the military. He lived in Japan for a while in fact two of my cousins were born there. What's the very best thing about living in Japan? I've always wanted to travel there. And I have a good friend who is trying to get me to go with her to Italy in a few weeks. I hope you get the assignment you want.

I'm also interested in BFL. It sounds like a good program. The results on the challenge page are incredible anyway. Do you take the supplements - is the diet managable? I'm thinking that when I get a lot closer to goal I will try a BFL rotation to get that incredibly toned look. But I don't want to use supplments.

MarvinTM Way to go on that Yoga. I still haven't gotten through my P.M. Yoga tape. It's amazing how yoga can really test your strength. I always thought it was mostly about flexibility. Well I need both, so I guess yoga's good for me. How did the new love-handle machine at Curves work out?

Well I've decided to really address some bad habits I've let slip back into my routine. They end today.

I've already had breakfast, which I had started to skip again. I'm going to drink 3L of water today, and I am going to get all of my exercise in today!

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the good wishes -- I'm feeling /mostly/ better today, which is great, because I'm really anxious to get back to exercising! I feel like all my hard work is slipping down the drain!

I haven't been posting my sig w/goal weight + all because I'm not sure my weigh-in is valid. I lost a few more pounds when I was sick, but it was an unhealthy loss based solely on the fact that I wasn't eating -- I don't think they count, and I'm pretty sure they're going to come back in a few days. I'm going to weigh + measure at the end of next week, after I've started moving again.

I'm glad everyone ELSE is moving though! :) It makes me look forward to when I can join in and post that I've exercised as well!

MarvintheMartian 03-02-2001 10:01 PM

Mama Wow, Italy?! That sounds great. Being so limited in where I’ve been, it sounds so fabulous to do all that traveling (and a little scary too, I must admit!) Do tell us more about what Japan is like day-to-day. It’s probably the closest I’ll ever get to experiencing it!

Sally I admit that I’m not really into Survivor ar any other “reality” shows, but the one that really gets my back up is that Temptation Island crap. Shows just how strong our belief in the sanctity of a relationship goes, huh? I am really glad to hear that your friend is ok, though. I suppose that it must be hard to keep everything a secret for so long!

MiniMony I agree! Yoga takes a lot of strength too! I found it so hard to hold the simple poses for even part of the time that the instructor did! Wow! I didn’t really see before how it could be a good cardio workout, but I sure see it now! It didn’t take long at all for my heartrate to climb!

The new machine at Curves is awesome! The only problem I have is that it’s hard to get into! (ok – just harder than most of the other ones!) I like it though, and I can really feel it working my side abs and lower back muscles too!

Copper I’m so glad you’re going to wait to weigh yourself. I know that if I lost weight being sick, then gained it back as I started eating again, I’d be a little sad. Rationally, I’d know that it was ok, but whoever accused me of being rational????? :D

I have good news to report! At my weigh in last night, I lost ½ a pound! Not much, but I’m still glad to see it! And I lost 1% bodyfat too! Which is great for me! According to their measurements, I’ve lost 2 inches on my bust :( , 2 ½ inches on my waist :) , and a little bit everywhere else (ranging from 1/8 inch to ½ inch) Overall great!

And before I end my novel, here are my weekend goals!
1. Maintain water consumption
2. Eat healthily.
3. At least a half hour of SOME form of exercise on both days.

Have a great weekend ladies! And I’ll see you on Monday!

Marvin

Mini Mony - i was looking at your weekly workout schedule and noticed the tapes you use. I used to watch Donna Richardson when she was on Fitness Pros on ESPN. I have a couple of her tapes and love them. I also use Karen Voight. I have one that has an awesome ab workout on it. See good results when i use it. I need to get it out and start using it again. Do you like Rachel McLish? I was interested in trying something by her after doing some research on videos. Also, thanks for the nice words about Michael.

islandmama - you mentioned Body-for-Life. Is there info on the website about it? I would like to learn more. Living in Japan has to be quite an experience. About 10 years ago, Mazda opened an auto plant in the next town and we have so many Japanese people living in our area. Felt like i moved to Japan.

Marvin TM - I have been thinking about trying yoga. Sounds like a challenging workout. Must be working - it sounds like you got great results at your weigh in last night.

Copperblu - glad you are feeling better. Good luck getting back into the exercise.

I am 46 years old and work part-time. I am a lifetime member of weight watchers, but currently working to get back to goal weight. I have lost 13 pounds since the beginning of this year. Have a vacation planned for spring break for the sunny beaches of Alabama. Hope to have less of me to take on vacation.

My goal for today is to drink my water. I am going on a youth group retreat this weekend. It is going to be held on a college campus. We will eat in their cafeteria. This will be a challenge. I am going to pack some good snacks and make the best choices i can.

I won't have access to a computer so i will check on everyone when i return on Sunday. Have a good weekend.

Hi, I'm a lurker who just popped in. I love the way you post your exercise schedules for the week. I post with another group here regularly & feel that if I tell them I am going to do something then I have to do it.

Until the new year I hadn't done any exercise for nearly 3 years and before that it was sparse. But over the last 8 weeks I have exercised for at least 30 mins every day, managing 1 hour on most days. And I feel the benefits.

I work full time & have a young family but get up early to fit it all in. I work in four week cycles, the second one of which is due to finish on Sun 4/03/01. Here's what I'll be up to for the next couple of days.

Sat - 10 miles on exercise bike & 50 stomach crunches
Sun - Lorraine Kelly / Jenni Levitt, figure it out aerobics video

Haven't made my new plan for the next 4 weeks yet - need to do it soon.

I would love to live in Toyko, I'm in Scotland, where it is cold, icey, foggy & snowy. But for a change it isn't raining.

Hope to chat some more later,
Carol

zookeeper16 03-03-2001 06:54 AM

Yep Carol! We keep you accountable! I'm a lurker here too! Carol and I are on the same list down below and have become fast cyber-friends.

As she could tell you, I'm the resident Tae Bo Addict on our list. As of today, I now own 16 tapes! The first set of four, the Live Set of four, a Basic Vol. 1, the Abs & Glutes focus, and the brand new Get Ripped series that was featured on QVC last Saturday. My motivator is Billy Blanks himself and on Saturday I got to talk to him Live on the phone! Man that made my day.

Anyway, I do workout every day, unless I'm really sick or in pain, as I was yesterday. But I also found when I miss a day, my whole mood is affected!

My schedule is:
Monday: Basic TB, yoga
Tuesday: 1.5 hours weights, 8 min. TB
Wednesday: Advanced TB, yoga
Thursday, Basic TB
Friday: 1.5 hours weights, 8 min. TB, yoga
Saturday: Advanced TB
Sunday: 3-4 hours volleyball, 8 min TB

The Advanced tapes are a new addition to my workout, since tonight I did a Basic tape and was wanting more when it was over! Come spring, I am hoping to incorporate walking into my schedule, and maybe even jogging/running.

A little about me: I'm a SAHM of two awesome kids, DD11 and DS 3. Married to my best friend and biggest supporter. I have a professional pet sitting business on the side, am a 4H leader, on the Board of Education at my DD's school, and spend a lot of my time running around like Chicken Little! My stats are: 230/255/185 - 185 being my first goal. My weight loss is very slow since I have hypothyroidism and I'm gaining lots of muscle. Since Jan 3 I have lost 9.15 lbs of body fat, gained 4.15 lbs of muscle and worked off 11 inches.

So that's me in a nutshell...probably more than you wanted to know, huh? Well, I suppose I should end my novel and life story and get some work done. Hope you don't mind me jumping in.

Lisa

islandmama 03-05-2001 05:55 AM

Hey everyone! I really missed you guys during the board delays! And I have some GREAT news...
Well we are all women here, right? So you won't mind a little personal info. just so you can totally understand my excitment... :D
Well "Aunt Flo" came to visit me a couple days ago, but I have still been going strong on my workouts, not missing ONE! So, I decided I was going to weigh myself at the gym, on the scale I always take my weight on, for accuracy. I was a little hesitant, being with my "aunty" and all, since we all know this is the time of the month we weigh the most, and are the most bloated. I got on the scale (professional scale done by a trainer), and these numbers popped up on the computer screen...197!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am out of the 200's!:p Oh, I am so stoked! I thought I was going to cry. I was 200 at the start of my challenge, 13 days ago. And 210 at the New Year. So, that makes a total of 13 pounds GONE! I am just so happy to be out of the 200's! The guy (Japanese) who took my weight probably weighs as much as my foot, so I knew he thought I was nuts for being excited about 197! !
Keep going strong girls! You WILL do it! You here me? You WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, about the Body-For-Life challenge. I LOVE it! I can't say it any better than that. I have an amazing amount of respect for the man, Bill Phillips, who started it. And respect is hard to get with me! I am pretty selective on the people I trust with things like this. If you really want to check it out, go to www.bodyforlife.com
He also has a magazine called Muscle Media. And he used to own EAS, a supplement and Nutrition company, that sells awesome and superior (In my humble opinion) quality products. I will tell you this, you have to follow the program, no if's, and's, or but's. The thing about it, is it's a Lifetime Change. Once you start, you love the way you feel, the way you think, and even the way you see the world. It requires dedication, hard work, and a reason that you want to change.
About Okinawa... It is a small (approx. 67 miles long and 2-15 miles wide depending which part of the island you are on) island. The water is clear blue, and warm. The breeze is warm and smells so fresh. The Okinawan's generally like us, but there are some that still hate us, and want us to leave. But it is mostly a friendly place to be. You can see the ocean from almost anywhere. The Okinawan parades are really special to see. They walk in the parades with their knees coming way up the their sides, while they play their Taiko drums. The women dress in the traditaional Japanese dress. It is very beautiful. It is quite expensive to live here, compared to the US, but we have one thing here that is much better than in the states... 100Yen stores. 100 Yen=1 dollar. But the 100Yen stores are AWESOME! We get amazing dishes, sushi plates, glasses, wicker baskets, etc. I can go on and on.
I'll leave it at that for now. Feel free to ask me anything!
Later! ;)
