No Sweat?
When I work out, I feel like I get a good workout. My heart rate goes up, I get out of breath, and I feel nice and hot. But I don't seem to sweat. IF I do sweat, it's not very much at all. Should I be concerned? Or is that normal for some people?

As long as the heart rate stays where it should be, I wouldn't be worried about not sweating, in fact, some people would love to have that feature LOL

Sweat really is no indication of how hard you're pushing yourself, or how hard your body is working.
It's only your body's natural self-cooling mechanism. Some people sweat a ton, others hardly do. This morning in my 6am boot camp class I was reminded that I am indeed a sweater .... I went to throw a medicine ball and it slipped out of my hands :D There's no real reason for concern, Christine - it's totally normal. |
Yup, some people are sweaters and some aren't. You're just lucky!

You are lucky, I sweat a lot and have learned not to be embarrassed by that b/c it has lessened the fitter I have become but I still think its above average. This is why one of the benefits of outdoor winter running is that my body doesn't have to work so hard to cool its self.

Thanks everyone. I was afraid my body wasn't able to cool itself properly or I was dehydrated or something bad like that. Good to know that it's normal. :D

I run 3 miles, and it doesn't seem like I sweat - but it turns out it's all on my lower back. Nice and wet. Everywhere else, no sweat.

My sister doesn't sweat at all during her work outs and I break out in a sweat just watching her run on the treadmill.

I'm not a sweater either. I do sweat a bit on my lower back or my groin area, but it's really minimal. Overall, it's a definite plus to be a light sweater, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Just make sure you are drinking enough water even though you're not sweating it out- not sweating much doesn't mean you don't get thirsty or dehydrated! ;) BP |
