A Bit of A Sore Back

  • Over the past couple of days I've had what almost feels like a sore back. It's not actually painful, but it's kind of like a dull ache, like a tightness in the back which begins in the very lower back and sits right in the middle of the spine. I feel it most when I'm going to bed at night and if I walk for a long time.

Are there any exercises which would loosen my back up a bit? Its not bad enough to go to my GP for, and I think a bit of exercise will probably do it good.
  • One of my favorite back stretches is to lie on my back with my arms out to the sides, then lean your bent legs over to one side, and turn your neck to the other. A twist. Try to keep both shoulders level on the ground (one will try to lift). Go gently If you're very tight, put a cushion under the knees to support them in a higher position. Lay there a good long time on each side. i find a give a little more every 10 breaths or so.
  • Another great stretch for your back is a Yoga exercise that I feel works very well.... It's called the Cat .... Get on all fours, inhale arch your back, exhale round your back, just like a cat would do when it get's up when it's been sleeping for a long time.

Here is a good link for other exercises...
