How do i get legs like these?
Hi guys, just loking for some advice really.
I have been looing weight a long time, and i know the formular for loosing weight generally. I also run, and do a areobics video (not everyday but 2-3 times a week) but i was wondering if anyone can suggest ways they have found really tone their legs>? I think if i can tone up my legs i would be so very very happy.... the aim .....http://i3.ebayimg.com/08/i/000/d7/b9/7fe3_1.JPG ANY suggestions are welcome :-) |
I think bodies like that are 75% genetics... Unfortunately diet and routine exercise will not reshape your body. It will only make your current body smaller. If you want to reshape your body the best way is to really buckle down and train. Intense sculpting/diet and weights.
The below website has a lot of 'perspective' and information. Good Luck!!! www.musclewithattitude.com Try to make your goal to be "the best you that you can be" - rather than looking like someone other than you... |
Wouldn't THAT be nice!
Sorry, no advice, but good luck!!! |
Genetics and airbrushing.

I'm sure the model's legs don't even really look like that. |
LOL love the airbrusing thing. i used to have photoshop, maybe i should get it back so i can change my holiday pics instead of this whole dieting rubbbish LOL LOL
i know im never gonna get legs like hers.....but id like a much slimmer version of my legs. why does that feel so impossible? |
Let's take me as an example.
I have always had a body with very large calves, comparatively slim hips and thighs, a thick-ish waist, and broad shoulders. When I was heavier, I had all of those things. I had rolls of fat over some of it, and it was all bigger, but that was my basic shape. Now that I'm thinner, guess what? I still have very large calves, comparatively slim hips and thighs, a comparatively thick waist, and broad shoulders. My body is smaller, but shape-wise, it's mostly the same. |
jogging and kickboxing is what did it for me when I got down to a size 10/12 the first time - not that my legs looked like THAT! I'm short, but my legs looked great!
|
I think Photoshop is the only way, even for this model.
I strongly suspect (and even would bet money) that the photo was greatly altered to lengthen her legs, and change her body to inhuman proportions. It's really quite unrealistic. Hip height (according to artists' body proportion charts) average about 4 heads length from the floor, her's looks 6 to 7. The arms look artificially thinned to me, as well. |
I know my legs can't look like the model's (since she is not 49 years old, for one thing, and for another, I agree with those mentioning PhotoShop...let's see her in real life!) and I don't even care. What has thrilled me is that I have the nicest muscles now and if I press on my thighs with my fingers, for instance, there is none of that sinking into flab. I think I have the greatest legs on earth now because they are strong, can run 4 miles at one time, and keep me going all day when before, they gave out after a little effort and then they whined about it via muscle soreness, aching, etc. And I bet that model would drop dead if she tried to run. (And I don't just mean in those shoes, I mean anytime!)
Seriously, I credit the elliptical and kickboxing for the toning up and endurance, and swimming for toning and flexibility (really has helped my ankles with the latter, I had no idea, and breastroke kick for the inner thighs) and then there are those lunges...and I also do step, that has really strengthened my calves and quads. I think if you put the work into it, these activities will help. |
thanks for the responses, i thought as i may have put a fairly un realistic picture, i thought id put one up of yes another model but someone who is a bit more natural.... http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...once_jayz2.jpg
ill keep running till i have lesg like hers instead lol. |
Pick good ancestors.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
i nearly kicked my cat off my lap laughing then! |
Okay, not that I look like THAT,
But... I don't think their legs look that toned? They look thin to me, but not very toned. But alas, I'm in my fantasy wishing I could look like a fitness model (not body builder though...)!!! |
My legs wont ever look like a models being a typical pear shape!
However I found that by doing squats and lunges - with weights its even better - really helped to tone them. Stair climbing is another one or step ups which helped with my backside, thighs and calves. I don't know if you have gym access but spinning or RPM is also really good for toning the lower half. I love running as well and while it did help get some muscle into them I found I had rapid and somewhat dramatic results combining that with strength/resistance training. Good luck! :) |
My legs are really leggy and longlike hers. I'm tall like you are too. I could probably get them to look like them with a lot of work! Lots of jiggle right now :(

You can do a lot to tone your legs through strength training. Squats, lunges, calf raises, hamstring curls, leg raises, the list goes on and on.
I've been working out with a personal trainer for going on three years now. We do lots and lots of leg exercises and I have to say that I'm very happy with how my legs have shaped up. Sure, you can't change your basic body shape, but with strength training you can do a lot to make what you have look a lot better--firmer, leaner, shapelier. I hated my legs, especially my knees and thighs, and now I'm thrilled with how they look. I've been buying skorts and shorter skirts to show them off. So start strength training. Join a gym and use the leg machines. If you can't join a gym, research exercises that you can do with just your body weight or inexpensive equipment like resistance bands, free weights, a Bosu, or exercise balls. Self.com and About.com are are couple of great sources for exercise ideas. Or try the book New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women. A lot of folks in the Weight Lifting Forum are using it and seem to really like it. Something else that would help is running uphill. Are there any hills in your area? Try adding some hill work to your running and that will do a lot to shape up both your legs and your butt. If you run on a treadmill, try increasing the incline for some of your workouts. If you don't have access to a treadmill and live where it's flat, find a local football field and run up the steps in the stands. Just don't run downhill, that's a really good way to injure your knees. Walk down the hills. |
I will never have legs like hers lol I am just not built that way and I have thick ankles lol BUT I do tons of miles of walking aerobic videos a day. My legs are very toned and very tight. All from the walking aerobic videos, which of course are full of kick backs and knee lifts and side to sides and kicks. Nothing else just those videos.

I have already noticed a difference in my legs since i have started running regularly again, just tightness, strength and general shape is improved, but where im trying to loose the fat on them aswell it is difficult. anyway thanks for the advice, wish i could join a gym but alass low moneys...so i will try some home training :-D |
