How do you carry a water bottle while jogging?

The warm weather has me wanting to jog or just walk and sweat a little...

First, though, a question: How do you carry a water bottle while doing the deed without it getting in the way??

Thanks!

Fanny pack! Course, it makes you look silly. I also stuff my cell phone, keys, and mp3 player....

mp3 and cell phone in each pocket. Water in my hand, start with it half empty though so it isn't very heavy and throw it out on the way home passed the trash can.

There are many types of fanny packs that hold water bottles. Any running store or most sporting goods stores will have one...or of course the internet.

I have a neoprene cover that fits over a standard water bottle. It has a band where your fingers slide in to help hold it on your hand. I found it at Meijer for about $6. It works really, really well and keeps my hand from getting tired gripping the bottle (arthritis makes it hard to hold for long periods of time).

I have a Nalgene water bottle. The cap is connected to the bottle by a plastic loop. I clipped on a carabiner to the loop and then thread a rope, long enough to go around my body, through the carabiner.

I don't. I drink up before I leave and chew gum while I am walking/jogging. I'm usually gone about 45 minutes or so. Then I drink about 32oz when I get home.

That's generally the way I do it, too. Or, if I'm running in town, I'll drink up beforehand, do all my hardcore intervals on the way to a destination (Target, gas station, etc.) and then buy a bottle of water at the destination. Then I'll briskly walk and drink on my way back to my apartment.

I don't drink whilst out I do have a little before (I find if I drink too much before a run I need the bathroom halfway round which is offputting and annoying!) and then have couple of glasses of water when I get in.

I don't drink while I'm out either, but in a past life  when I was running for over an hour, I bought one of those belts that holds little water bottles, I think it's this one: http://amphipod.com/8400/8400.html . I can't stand to hold anything in my hand while running so it worked well for me.

Me too ... if it's a relatively short run time (45 minutes or so), then I can get by without taking water and just hydrate before and after. If I'm going out longer, then I have a fanny pack-style water bottle holder that I wear around my waist. It's got pockets for gels, keys, chapstick, etc, too. I prefer to have my hands free, but I run with other gals that prefer to carry their water in their hands rather than have something bouncing around their waist. So, it really depends on what you feel most comfortable with ... maybe try different things and see what works best for you?

a 2litre platypus, that sits in a small platypus backpack with a drinking tube attached to the shoulder strap. very good value. very useful for walking running, or even stints in the gym on x trainer or rower as you don'r need to use your arms to drink

yeh i dont drink either, but im only out like a half hour so i cand rink when i get back, i find i get cramps if i drink too much!

Maybe carry two... They can act as weights so you burn more calories :)
