Blisters on my heel

  • I have always had this problem- no matter what my weight is. My feet hate shoes with backs on them. I get blisters on my heels from any shoe- running shoes, work shoes, soft shoes. It is the bane of my existence. I wear backless shoes for work all summer. The only time I have relief is in the winter because I wear boots everywhere-and boots go up high enough that they don't rub on my heals. I have a massive open wound on my right heel right now. I did turbo jam without shoes this morning and I have put bandages on my heel to protect them when I put my running shoes on for a walk later today. Yesterday I limped home from my walk. If I stop walking and wait for it to heal summer will be half over. Any suggestions out there?
  • Huh! That is weird. If it was me, I'd go see a podiatrist. He may be able to offer advice on shoes to wear (mine does, he's awesome!). Is it possible you may be wearing the wrong size shoe? I know that sounds silly, but I have HUGE feet, and some stores vary in sizes (a size 11 in one store may be a 10 in another). Hope that helps.
  • Check out some of the speciality shoe websites (one I think is Shoesource.com) - and they have ALL kinds of shoes for every kind of problem you can imagine! They even have workout, walking, hiking shoes that are made like sandals! I'm sure they'll have something that's backless, though it will really work your calves more keeping them on! Good luck!
  • When you workout, don't use just a regular bandage, use something called "second skin" it really helps a TON. Also be sure you're wearing socks that are designed to wick the moisture away from your feet. (Thorlos, or some other brand - they are pricey, but well worth it. They are typically very thick, and you may find that you need a slightly larger shoe...)
  • Thanks!
