Exercise Music
Hi everyone,
I just got an IPod and I'm looking to add some stellar workout music to it. Anyone have any really good songs that get them pumped up to workout? -Liz. PS: I like ALL kinds of music...so don't be shy! :) |
"Stand in the Rain" - Superchick (Christian band...but you might like it even if you don't typically listen to Christian music..they're REALLY awesome!!)
"Photograph" and "Saving Me" - Nickelback (I was just listening to those today :)) I love Rascal Flatts "Melt" CD to workout to. |
How about All My Life by the Foo Fighters, Crazy Train by Ozzie Osborne, Panama by Van Halen, and Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet. They should get ya jumpin!
|
Oh sweettart, I love Christian music, RelientK and FiveIronFrenzy are two of my fav Christian bands! I hadn't thought of putting them on the ipod though..
Cinderpa, thanks I love the Foo FIghters, and the other ones sounds hard rockish/alternative enough to make me kill the eliptical! Thx a ton! |
I love working out to 'Pon Da Replay by Rihanna or Pump It by the Black Eyed Peas. I also like Disturbed's Down with the Sickness.
|
I like all kinds of Christian music, but my 11 year old listens to stuff by Superchick mostly....and I've grown to LOVE it!!!! It's kinda alternative/pop I guess...I don't know. Stand in the Rain is my "theme song" for my running :)
Have fun with your ipod!!!!! |
Here's my playlist:
1) SexyBack (Justin Timberlake) 2) The Final Countdown (Europe) 3) Bringin' Da Noise (by NSync) 4) Pump It (Black Eyed Peas) 5) Woo Hoo (by The 5 6 7 8's) 6) Jump In The Line (Harry Belafonte) 7) Livin La Vida Loca (Ricky Martin) 8) I Got to Keep on Moving (Please forgive my poor taste in humor!!) 9) Suavemente (Elvis Crespo) 10) If U Can't Dance (by The Spice Girls) 11) Boom,Boom (by The Kumbia Kings) 12) Barbie Girl (Aqua) 13) Peanut Butter Jelly Time  14) Ca Plane Pour Moi (Plastic Bertrand) 15) Hey Mama (Black Eyed Peas) 16) The Numa Numa Song I always have it on shuffle so that my workout songs do not become routine. :) |
Great thread idea, I'm always looking for new stuff to feed my iPod with! :carrot:
These are some of the songs that get me going at the moment:
|
Here is one of my personal favorites, ( just because I can imagine it raining all kinds of Vin Diesel's around me....): It's Raining Men by the Weather girls ( 70's music). Wonderful song to really get pumped up by for me!!!!
Otherwise, I am definitely a Queen freak, love to work out with them playing in my ears!! Any 70's music has a great beat, most people know what the song is and can sing along ( even in their head ) if they want to. My iPod is mainly 70's music with loads of disco, and of course Queen, with some 80's thrown in for good measure... hope this helps you! |
I've got a couple of like 'oldies' type songs on mine like Journey and Queen and Final Countdown (! haha). I also do have the occasionally like hip-hoppy dance type song that I am occasionally in the mood for. I just had my sister send me "Get Low" because they played it in spinning and it's stuck in my head. Lol. I've also got a little bit of Britney on there..."Piece of Me" is ridiculously catchy, haha.
Majority of my stuff is rock/punk though. I like really intense stuff when I'm running for the most part. Right now I'm hooked on some stuff by Rise Against - The Good Left Undone and Worth Dying For in particular. I also love anything by My Chemical Romance. |
Guys, I love ALL your suggestions. Everyone has put up atleast a few songs that I know and am adding to my iPod as I type this. Journey, oh my heart melts when I hear "small town girl" and I love love love rascal flatts! 3 doors down is so good too!
Man oh man, this is a good thread. There's just so many songs that you love but you forget about because they are not on the radio anymore! Keep it going guys, I have lots of room left to put more songs in! :) |
It has to have a beat for me to work out to, so even songs that I LOVE will not go on my MP3 unless they get me moving. And, I just read an article that said that research now indicates that working out to music causes you to burn more calories than watching TV or reading or just thinking because the beat gets you moving.
Having said that, a few of my fave's Eminem - Lose Yourself (the edited version, though it doesn't help much because you know what they're blanking out) It's really inspirational, and I skip to it when I really need convincing that I should keep going Kelly Clarkson - almost anything with a beat Nickelback - Rock Star Rihanna - Umbrella, SOS, Shut Up and Drive Finger Eleven - Paralyzer Matchbox Twenty - Disease I second Queen and the 70's thing, especially the Doors |
Here are some of my current favs that haven't already been mentioned:
|
OH MAN U and Ur Hand is one of my favorites! So is Fighter by Christina Aguilera. I can't believe I forgot that one. I have my iPod in front of me this time...Mr Brightside by the Killers. I even have a few Spice Girls selections on here. Green Day has good stuff overall.
|
When I'm on the bike I need something that keeps me going. Metallica (yeah, I know, but it works :)), Apocalyptica (great) and so on. With that music you can go for miles. :)
|
Here's my playlist on my MP3 player for my workouts.
1.) Pump it up (remix) 2.) Eye of the Tiger, by Survivor 3.) Push It, by Rick Ross 4.) Heart of a Champion, by Nelly (One of my ALL TIME favorite workout songs. Really gets you pumped and motivated) :) 5.) Rollin, by Limp Bizkit 6.) Everybody's Screaming, by Lost Prophets 7.) Spirit Never Dies, by Masterplan 8.) X Gon Give it to Ya, by DMX (Extremely explicit content in this song though. Huge F bomb, lol) 9.) Party Up, by DMX 10.) Collide, by Skillet 11.) The Final Countdown, by Europe. Hope you like the songs, and have fun! :) |
I think I've added atleast 50 new songs to my iPod! Thanks guys, can't wait to try them out tomorrow!
|
Other good ones "We Will Rock You" by Queen, "American Idiot" by Green Day and "I Wanna be Sedated" by The Ramones.
|
I'll try and list some great songs that are fairly fast-paced, I only listen to satellite radio so I have no idea if they're mainstream or unheard of on regular radio...they're all pretty good, at least I think. Mostly alt-rock/pop type music, you can probably listen to a preview on amazon of most of these songs before you download.
We are scientists "Nobody move, nobody get hurt" Nine Black Alps "Cosmopolitan" (lyrics can be ignored, as they go something like 'you're not pretty enough, you're not skinny enough', unless that actually motivates you and not demoralizes you) Arctic Monkeys "I bet you look good on the dancefloor" Blur "Boys and Girls" Hot Hot Heat "Bandages" Gogol Bordello "Not a Crime" (this is insanely upbeat gypsy punk) Kaiser Chiefs "I Predict a Riot" some older stuff I can think of offhand that still rocks: Tracy Bonham "Mother Mother" Veruca Salt "Volcano Girls" Marvelous 3 "Freak of the Week" |
I have nearly 80 songs on my 'Run' playlist. Love threads like this 'cause I'm always looking for more.

I have many other to add to it, but I don't buy music very often. |
Just added these last night from itunes. Hey, when you purchase from itunes they set up a 'Just For You' section at the bottom of the itunes music store page. They look at what you've purchased in the past and suggest music they think you might like based on that. I've gotten some good tunes that way. Some I didn't know; others I'd forgotten about. :) Also, they have a free 'Single of the Week'.
Hey WildThings, don't fret the Britney song. I have her 'Baby One More Time', plus a Hanson song and the theme to Drake and Josh. I just like the songs, what can I say?? :) Get On Out Soul Asylum And She Was Talking Heads Burning Down the House Talking Heads Fly From the Inside Shinedown Life Is a Highway Rascal Flatts --- GREAT SONG! Inside Out Eve 6 The Middle Jimmy Eat World |
If you go onto Itunes and look up free downloads they sometimes have workout routines with music in the fitness section. My personal favs are techno because the beat is supposed to mimick a heartbeat moving faster and slower and my body just seems to meld to the beat, techno is good for long runs or endurance training because it keeps you on target. For Techno try Benni Benassi. But i also like to listen to Cascada, "cant stop the rain" because her music is fast paced and I second the pink music as well.:dizzy:
Oh and if you have a thing for 80's music the police are pretty good for working out to along with anything from Footloose or Flash Dance |
I heard Jack's Mannequin "Dark Blue" the other day, it was a song that I used to listen to a lot and LOVE, now it's on my iPod.
|
Wow, I love how this thread is growing - great suggestions all! :carrot:
This might be old news for some of you, but couple of days ago I found this site: JogtunesIndie. They have free 30 min. podcasts with running music - they even give the bpm for each song. So far I've listened to two of them and liked them a lot - both for running and for discovering new bands. At times it's a little chatty (mostly for the first couple of minutes) but the songs are great if you like indie music. :) |
Soundtrack for "The Full Monty" is one of my favorites.
|
These are older songs but they are always on my workout play list becayse they get me so pumped.
Kelly Clarkson - Never Again Kelly Clarkson - Since You Been Gone Pussycat Dolls - Buttons Maroon 5 - This Love |
We recently did a routine in my Step class to "We're not gonna take it" by the Twisted Sisters and it went down a treat! Everyone singing along and it really revved everyone up.
|
There's a rap song called We Ready by Archie that I really like. My brother used to wrestle and would listen to that song before every match. Works for both of us!
|
Justin Timberlake is always good workout music too. I specifically like LoveStoned and Damn Girl.
|
The song "Free" by Valencia is pretty awesome to work out to.
Some of the lyrics "To feel free, like the weights gone off my shoulders" Very inspirational. |
This is yesterday's spin class -
You can get it if you really want - Jimmy Cliff Feelings - The Offspring I Get Around - Pennywise Yeah! - Usher Cold Black Devil - Jackie Greene Under Pressure - Queen Side of a bullet - Nickelback Proper Education - Erik Prydz BTW - I totally love these threads - a great way to keep up with new stuff. My biggest challenge is finding clean lyrics...U & UR Hand would get me in SO MUCH TROUBLE!! :s: edited to say because I teach spin and you can't have offensive lyrics...not because...:o |
I like Papa Roach (rock) and Third day (Christian). From one extreme to the other, lol! But they both pass the time and pump me up.
