Foot Surgery -- Need Advice

I'm having foot surgery on March 7th, and I won't be able to do much walking for at least three weeks. Apparently I will be able to get around without crutches right after the surgery, but walking will be painful.

Should I keep my calories constant? I already have not been eating very much, so I don't want to eat any fewer calories--I think my daily intake has been 1400-1600.

What kinds of exercises can I do sitting down? Does anyone know a good website where I can find weight-lifting exercises to do with 5-lb weights at home?

I hate to lose a whole month sitting around when I could be losing weight, but after I've healed my foot will no longer hurt when I walk or run. I'll be able to wear high heels and cute shoes, and I'll be able to walk long distances without pain for the first time in my life.

Thoughts/comments on how to get through recovery without gaining anything back?

Hi KendraLynn (such a pretty name) ... If you have access to a gym you could maybe do the elyptical, stationary bike and definitely do upper body workouts...

I'm glad to hear that your operation will fix your food problem...

There are lots of upper body things you can do while sitting, I think Shape.com has some stuff, maybe just rry googling it and seeing what you come up with and mix and match to find what you like. You could also buy a DVD for upper body. Maybe some ab stuff...
