YAY! You sound so good! I'm so glad for you!
And I do agree with baffled. 1200 calories is pretty darn low and your body is probably in starvation mode... yes it is real. You may want to go ahead and take the calories up. You'll probably see a loss if you do that. |
My karate is going very fine, last week I won my yellow belt.
My resistance to effort increased a lot and now I am able to bike for 1 hour a day (stationary bike) at a medium-high intensity. (Before I was able only 30 min a shot at a minimum intensity). I didn't loose a pound yet but I didn't gain any, neither. I feel stronger and much more "en forme". |
Woohoo! :bravo: :carrot:
It's amazing how quickly you get into shape - it's almost like your body is begging you to do this! There's a world of difference between 'knowing' exercise is good for you and experiencing the well being and energy you get when you actually DO IT. Losing pounds is nice too, but the extra weight will slowly fall away as you keep at it. I thought I'd lose weight faster too, but I'm not too surprised to see the scale going down only by a couple of pounds in the last month - my leg muscles are really taking shape under their padding and I can see that my clothes are getting looser. I'm obviously losing fat and gaining muscle, and you are probably doing the same thing, so I wouldn't worry too much about what the scale says. Did your DH ever get over his fear and join you? My DH has been promising to start doing some light weights and crunches for a month, but seems to be unwilling to actually start - I think he feels like he'll look stupid if he does weights. :dunno: I don't know who he thinks will judge him like that, but I think that's what he's worried about. He's never exercised before now though, so I don't think he's very comfortable with the concept. One thing at a time - at least he's using our elliptical every day :D BP |

Things are going great for you Vek!
I'm sure you are putting on muscle with all this exercising. Try eating some more calories from protein (whey shakes are very high in protein and low in cal) and I'm sure you'll start losing more. There are at least 2 reasons for that: 1) you'll have more energy - thus better workouts - because the body will be able to tap into the extra protein; 2) your body will have more protein to build muscle, and that muscle will consume more calories (from fat) all day long, no matter what you do. Losing slowly isn't such a bad thing, because it means you are bulding a solid foundation that will remain there. And remember that "easy come, easy go", and that's espacially true with weight loss. |
vek - It's too bad your DH is still making up excuses so that he doesn't have to exercise. It's so much more fun for you when you have someone to go with. But I suppose he has to 'see the light' for himself. He has to want to lose weight and get in shape, sure (that's the easy part - every one wants that to happen), but he also has to *want* to do what is necessary for that to happen. I know for years I would start up some exercise program and then find excuses to quit. I didn't really want to do the work. This time feels different - I found some new level of commitment I had been lacking before. Something 'clicked' that had never 'clicked' before.
Oh well, you're in charge of your own body and DH is in charge of his. Maybe he'll come around when the weather is better and he feels like getting out and doing more. Soon you'll be able to go for walks (or maybe 'swims' if all this snow melts at once...), and maybe that bit of exercise will encourage him to do more. BP |
Your determination is totally admirable.
I am sorry to read about what your DH did to you - that was so not nice of him to not show up, especially on a night when you needed the car. Maybe an attempt on his side to sabotage the dojo? I think you should eat a bit more though, 1200 is way to low intake for the amount of physical activity. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. |
Thank you guys for the encouragements!
Soon I will post a pic with me wearing my karategi!:dizzy: I really LOVE practicing karate.:carrot: |
