Workout tops
Does anyone else have trouble with workout shirts, particularly the ones made of lycra blends? I've bought a couple at consignment stores the last few months and they fit fine when I try them on, but once I start doing something in them (aerobics, running), they start riding up. I think it's because of my big belly, but I was wondering if anyone else had this issue?
I actually bought a really cheap mens workout top the other day and it doesn't ride up at all, though it's not as cute as the womens tops. |
I have the same workout top woes. How I long to be able to wear a flattering, feminine lycra top but instead I wear giant tent like t-shirts to avoid the riding up (heaven forbid anyone should see my stomach - lol!)

I also tend toward plain, cotton t's. They just seem to work better and are more comfortable than official "workout gear".
Sometimes you can find lots of 5 or 6 t-shirts for cheap on ebay. I am SO cheap about workout wear. Shoes I will splurge on, but I don't spend much on what I call "gear to sweat in" |
I still do t-shirts, but would prefer to do a wicking fabric instead, because I am afraid of the sweat sitting on my skin. I've seen people get skin infections that way. Also, when I'm running out in the cold, all the sweat sitting there makes me even colder (when I stop running of course).

I just love those pretty lycra workout tops but my only problem is getting them off :joker:
It's an ugly site wrestling with them |
No. But they aren't sized for very well, esp if you are not real busty. I buy the plain wicking T shirts (underarmour and nike) and usually a size bigger.. I think they run small (and I wear a small). Little girls must wear the extra smalls, sheesh

Life's too short to sweat in cotton.
Wicking fabrics work best when they're on your skin. That's why wicking tops tend to be cut small. My base layers when it's cold (and it would be very uncomfortable to be sweaty) are a lot tighter than anything I'd wear on its own when it's warmer. |
I could never wear those tops. They're just too tight, they keep rolling up and I don't like the feel of them. I buy an XL men's cotton tees because I like my t-shirt to cover my butt and stomach area and cotton is a lot better when it comes to working out and sweating. :)

I buy my workout tops at Walmart. They are made of some sort of wicking material and don't ride up at all. I have also bought them over in the mens department when I can't find a size in the womens.

I have multiple shirts, some from Target which I really like. They don't ride up but then I also don't buy them so they are fitted. I also had some that I bought on sale at Macy's (for like 8 bucks) that were awesome with a built in bra but since I've lost weight, the bra does nothing for me.
The other thing I like to wear are tank tops but I only do that indoors because it is too cold outdoors for those. My recommendation is try Target but not all Targets are equal. I have 2 Targets near me, one has a lot of workout clothes and the other has virtually none. |
