Cakses - an EXCELLENT plan, and way to go giving up smoking - tough one, that! :)
Lisa - you ROCK! SOOOOO glad you took the coaching job! Onthetee - your 'breathing through pudding' made me snort! Disgusting, but that's what it feels like some days in high humidity! YUCK! Hi  to everyone else! Heather :D |
Well done Lisa!
I've just done 4.4 miles fartlek (or attempted to). I ran to the park, did some sprint sections in the park, then ran home. I can't believe how fast I am at the moment though, that rest is really paying off. I averaged 8 minute miles over the route, including the slower sections. Phew! Hopefully I'll be doing a long run tomorrow. |
I did 2.2 miles this morning and I managed them both as 12 minute miles. Getting better...
|
Slow Coach the Snail here... still running at 5.2mph, and absolutely not ready to speed up -
3.25 miles yesterday again - planning to maintain that time and distance for the rest of August. Heather :D |
Hmm, I've got mixed feelings about my run this morning. I had to take a lot of walk breaks, it was warmer than I was used to, and the hills just seem to defeat me. It felt really hard. Then I got home, measured my route online and realised that not only was it 19.2 miles instead of the 18 I'd thought, I did it at about 45 seconds over marathon pace which is pretty much the speed I should be doing it, walk breaks or not. So even though I hated it all the way round, I'm a bit more positive about it now thankfully!
I'm off to stay with a friend tonight, we're going out for a meal so at least I can be sure I've earned it ;) |
I did 25 minutes today. That wraps up week 6!
It is so strange. When I am on it, it is like a pleasant jaunt. When I am pushing it, I seriously check the clock every 10-12 seconds. |
Hello everyone! Got back from my vacation last night! It's always
nice to go away but I also Love to come home.;) Well, I got absolutly NO running done in the mountians. I had very very good intentions however, we arrived on Sunday and on Monday morning I awoke got dressed got my ipod set up, running shoes on, pepper spray in hand and went out the door. At the end of the driveway was a huge (and I mean huge) black dog loose just meandering around. Why Why do people let their dogs out to rome the neighboor hood? I have been chased and jumped on by so many dogs that I am scared to run anymore. The big problem in Georiga was that I did not know the neighboor hood and after seeing that dog how many more were out there? I do carry pepper spray but for some reason I have a hard time putting to much faith in it. Has anyone else have this fear and what do you do about it? I wanted to run however I didnot wish to be mauled by dogs! I also could not believe the heat up there!!! If you were gonna run it had to be done early if you wanted to make it back.:dizzy: The good news was I keep my eating in check and as of this morning my weight has remained the same. :) Well, congrats to everyone on their running I cannot believe the miles you ladies cover!!! Great Job. :carrot: Monday will be my start again day!! Goal this week at least 4-5k. Have a great Sunday!!!! |
I've just noticed that I've now run over 1000 miles so far this year :carrot:
Club run for me tonight, I'll either do 7 or 10 depending how I feel. |
Recently I started training for a half-marathon. i'm in the 3rd week of training. I was going for 5 miles today, but right b4 the 4th mile, I twisted my foot. I sat out for a bit, but I'm icing it right now. I hope its not too bad tommarow. Cause right now, its not that bad, but i guess i'll have to wait and see.
Congrats to everybody with their runs. |

|
Well done for getting out there ennay, you'll be back on track in no time.
I did 7.7 in the end this evening, fast again. I'm feeling good about my running again now :) |
Great job on all the running, you guys!
Stacey -- I have the same fears about dogs. I live in the country but I'm lucky in that most people keep their dogs restrained in some way. My husband usually scopes out a route before I try it and he tells me what the dog situation is. I carry pepper spray in case of a surprise, but I'm not sure what would happen if I were actually chased by a dog. I was staying with my mom in my hometown the last four or five days, but I got two runs in. Three speedy miles (29 minutes -- it's good for my slow self!) at the park in my hometown on Saturday, and then I went back this morning and did a 6-mile run. Tomorrow I'll have to run cross country practice all by myself (eek!) because my husband has to attend a meeting all day for lead teachers. My six miles this morning felt REALLY good, even though I ate too much all weekend and expected to feel heavy and slow. I felt like I could go much longer, and I'd intended to run 8, but my niece and nephew were coming over and I wanted to hang out with them before I had to leave, so I cut it short. I hope I feel that good tomorrow morning when I run with the kids. |
Still way too humid, but the heat seems to be taking a bit of a break, at least from the highs in the 90s, now they’re in the mid 80s.
Stacey – Welcome back! Can’t say you didn’t try, too bad you got all ready only to have your plans ruined. I also can’t stand irresponsible dog owners. I’ve had friendly dogs bolt out of their yards to greet my dog, which is kind of annoying since it disrupts my run and dangerous for the dog (don’t people worry about their dogs getting hit by cars?), but I haven’t come across any aggressive dogs that weren’t contained by a fence or tied down. Just that coyote that one time, but that’s no one’s fault. Helen – Congrats on breaking 1000! What a “mile”stone shygrly – Hope the foot is better soon. Ennay – Glad you’re feeling better! It can be hard getting back in the swing of things, but you’ll get there before you know it. Lisa – Sounds like the running and coaching are going great. I’m still trying for a sub 30 5k, don’t think I’m consistent enough to be gaining speed yet. Took a couple days off, did 3 miles in about 32 yesterday. Not bad for an evening run, it’s so gross outside I come back just soaked, but at least it was overcast so there was no direct sun to deal with. My left knee is making a clicking noise, hoping it’s nothing that won’t take care of itself. |
I had a bad Monday and ended up stopping due to pain. Tuesday I got in my 2 miles well 2.1 miles to be exact in 25 mins. Today is a much needed rest day, then tomorrow and Friday will be runs. trying to speed up a little so I can do 2.5 miles in 25 minutes. We'll see though. Right now I am just thrilled to make it 25 minutes without dying!
