Can I join in on this thread?

I am new here, but I have been trying to lose weight for awhile now. I had lost 30 pounds, but I have gained 5 back due to slacking on paying attention to what I eat and exercise. I really feel exercise is the most important aid in my weight loss.

Anyway, so for the past 2 weeks I've been telling myself "tomorrow I will go to the gym" - reading through this forum, I have gotten motivated, so I'm about to head out to the gym right now.

How do you guys keep yourselves motivated to go? I tend to do well at first and then if I miss a day, I keep missing days until I haven't been for weeks. It's horrible.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and all.

Hi Guys!

Welcome Purrfekshun!

I've been going to the gym these last few days and feeling so much better for it. In fact, yesterday and today I started working out on the weight machines. I haven't touched them for a couple of months, due to the incident. So I was kind of scared at first. But I'm starting out slow and doing just fine. And I also went on the treadmill and exercise bike.

Purrfekshun, how do I keep motivated? I just know I always feel better afterwards. Exercise just makes me feel better physically and mentally.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Dena

Hi girls!

I have been going to the gym now for 2 full weeks and I am very happy so far. Yesterday I did not go:( because I had a get together with people from my office and at the end of the night I felt really bad because I ate too much (no junk) real food and also did not exercise. Now that I have been going to the gym I enjoy the time that I spend there and I feel like a new person even though I haven't loose that much only 3 pounds since 2 weeks ago. Just keep going, at least while you are there you will be away from food for that time and your mind will be busy. Don't give up. Good luck!;)

I went to the gym for a whole hour today, and feel super! I'm back to my old self!!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Well, I needed to take a break but I'll be back on track tomorrow! I think I might investigate those very frightening looking weight machines tomorrow. All I want for Christmas is to be buff, LOL. Uhh, not really;).

Hi Purrfekshun! Welcome to the thread! :) I wish I could help you out with motivation... most of the time the only thing that keeps me motivated about Curves is the fact that it costs me money! I guess that problem is, when you stop going, you have to start right up again... I can't let myself not go for more than a couple times, or I lose all my momentum... good luck!

As for me, not so great... :( I skipped Curves on Friday, and then again yesterday... I have bowling tonight, so no time for Curves, but I'm going tomorrow morning for sure! Cross my !

So, for this week, my goals are to make it to Curves on Wed thru Fri, drink my water, and do my ab exercises every night.

Talk to you all later!

MarvintheMartian 12-19-2001 10:38 AM

Where are you?

Haloooo out there!

I didn't make it to Curves this morning...:( We stayed out a tad too late last night after bowling... tis the season, I guess.... but I'm going to try to fit it in during lunch, since I can't get there after work today. Wish me luck!

Did good with my water though, and I did my ab exercises, so I'm happy with that. I'm going to look at one of those exercise balls next time I'm up at Walmart.... And, has anyone in here ever used one of those ab wheel things? Any success? Walmart has both those things for $10 each, so I might give it a try....

Anyhoo, I hope you're all doing great, rushing around getting ready for Santa :D

Went to the community center today and did some weights and some aerobic things. I wake up now and tell myself 'I'm going to eat good today' and then pray that God gives me His guidance in the choices I make. I think it's working, LOL. I feel sooo good today. My emotions are getting more balanced too. Woohoo! I'm excited about Christmas again, LOL.
In Christ,
Pamela

Good for you, Pamela! Sounds like you've got the right kind fo Christmas spirit! :)

As for me, I'm losing my momentum at Curves! :( I did, however, pick up an exercise ball, and a video last night, so I'm going to get into that! I did my ab exercises (on the ball!) last night, and drank a ton of water, so I'm okay.... I am definitely going to Curves tomorrow, but I have NO time today... but I'm going to try out my new exercise ball video tonight, I promise!
:p

Hello all. My name Is Kathy and I would like to join you. I haven't been a dedicated exerciser ever but plan on it starting Monday!! My daughter came home for a visit, and put me thru her routine, and I am determined to do this, no matter how long it takes. I have about 70 lbs to lose. My goal is to get mean and lean. She has always looked gorgeous but she is totally beautiful now. And if she can do it..I can do it....

This is my plan...Arobic machines (preceptor, step, bike) for at least 30 minutes...I will do a good work out with lots of little sprints to get the heart going good. (i will do this arobic thing 5 to 6 days a week, and maybe on Wed/Sat I will do 45...

Mon/Thur Upper body
Tues/Fri Lower body
Wed/SAt extra arobics

I know it seems like alot to start out with but I can not do this half way..It doesn't work that way with me..It is all or nothing..Either I do it, Or i don't This time I am going to do it and suceed.

I will drink water..tons, and I will eat good food. I am going to apply lots of different tool that work for me and make up my own plan. It will be interesting!!!

bye for now..

Kathy

Good for you! :) It sounds really ambitious, but I'm sure that you'll do great!

A little about me.... I'm 26, and I'm roughly 30 lbs. overweight.... I below to a gym called Curves for Women (here's their website: www.curvesforwomen.com) and my biggest problem is my midsection. I don't follow any particular "diet", but I try to eat well-rounded meals and not snack too much, which is really hard at this time of year, but I'm managing! ;)

As for exercise right now, I haven't been to Curves in over a week, but I did get that exercise ball a-humming the other night... so much so that I had to take a couple days off to recover! Seriously, I'm feeling ab muscles I never knew existed! I love it!

Hope you're all having a great holiday, and that you get the chance to check in! And again, welcome Kathy!

Merry 25th of December

It is great to see people committed to exercising daily.

tupo_girl 12-26-2001 03:24 AM

I can't wait to get back on track! I didn't get too off track but my body is totally reeling from the M&M's I ate today and the fact that I haven't really been able to excercise the past few days (tried to walk but it was way too bitter in the wind today). I'm going crazy, LOL. This is good, right? New Year's Eve shouldn't be too bad as long as I eat good up until then. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas or happy Holiday!
In Christ,
Pamela

Merry Christmas!

Hope Santa was good to all of you...he brought me a nasty cold! Seriously it was dh's nieces and nephews that made us both sick, so we've been a bit miserable the past few days.... needless to say, no exercise, but we haven't been eating very much either!

DH wants to go see Lord of the Rings tonight, so hopefully, I'm feeling up to it... thank goodness for drugs! :D Otherwise, we'll probably keep laying low for now, and try to shake this thing! Blech! I hate being sick!
:p

tupo_girl 12-28-2001 01:30 AM

We've got a cold here too! My dad, Emmett and I all have it although mine's not too bad. I'm miserable first thing in the morning and feel almost normal the rest of the day. That's kind of keeping me from excercising plus we still have a lot going on here. I was craving pistachio pudding today so I got some tonight, hehe. It's so good! LOL. All righty then. Tomorrow is a new day!
In Christ,
Pamela
