Exercise Accountability -- June 2007

It's a new month!

Get to exercising, everyone. :carrot:

baffled111 06-01-2007 05:02 PM

A new month...Hmmm. I'm less excited about this one.

32 mins treadmill (300 cal)
Upper body training.

canarysong 06-01-2007 09:55 PM

52 minutes - The Firm: Bootcamp

Good workout today and a great start to the month!

mandalinn82 06-01-2007 11:36 PM

Baffled - get that energy up! Its a WHOLE NEW MONTH! WOOOOO!

OK, yeah, not really feeling it either. Ah well.

50 min elliptical.

Diva 06-02-2007 01:04 PM

I feel it on Monday. I have a bad case of wanting to do nothing but sit on my butt syndrome. sigh....

Me23 06-02-2007 01:16 PM

my new plan - swim or bike 3 days week (30mins cardio, walk to pool to warm up, few mins cooldown/stretches)
brisk walk on other 3 days, with warm up and cool-down
flexibility stretches - 10mins a day (must stick to this! I am not going to develop the spine and muscle probs my family have!)
i' devised this using the article 'fitness fundamentals', which is a sticky on this forum. it's very good. it taught me that i wasn't warming up and cooling down properly, making my body enter into cardio unprepared. i've been on plan for a week now. exams are over so it's all go! walking will easier when i'm home cos we keep corgis and they (well one of them) is a great walker x

baffled111 06-02-2007 02:18 PM

17 mins treadmill, 17 mins elliptical; 300 cals
lower body strength training (my poor quads!)

We're going away for the weekend to visit my MIL. She has a treadmill and I think I'll bring my sneaks so that I can squeeze in a run or two. The up-side of visiting MIL is that she lives in a real city with real shops! I'm a woman in desperate need of new clothes for the gym and I might just be able to buy some. Hooray!

Me23 06-02-2007 03:05 PM

Go baffled! Gym clothes are a good motivator. I hereby confess to once wearing pyjama shorts in the gym. Don't *think* anybody noticed....

canarysong 06-02-2007 11:07 PM

40 minutes - Pilates

mandalinn82 06-03-2007 08:58 PM

55 min on the rebounder, bouncing away. It was a compromise between "I don't want to exercise" and "I really need to move my butt"

LisaMarie71 06-03-2007 09:15 PM

3 mile run in the rain!

apoundatatime 06-03-2007 09:24 PM

Friday I did 100 crunches (60 bicycle & 40 basic) and did 200 steps on my LTT. Y-day & today, nothing.

BlessedBe 06-03-2007 10:07 PM

I've done about an hour on DDR yesterday and today. For me that's pretty darn good. Since usually I go five minutes and quit. :p I'd do more but my feet hurt. :)

horsey 06-04-2007 12:17 AM

45 minute fast walk at the mall - new weekend exercise is to walk and walk circles while my little boy plays in the kid area. Plus 30 minutes on my mini stair step tonight and 20 minutes weights Total 95 minutes of exercise. I'm getting started again after letting myself get out of shape, aiming for 30-45 min per day cardio, 20 min 3x week weights and abs 3-4x per week.

Diva 06-04-2007 08:07 AM

Today's Activities will be:

Bicycling 40 minutes = 408 calories burned.
Calisthenics ( sit-ups & Stretching)40 min's = 278 calories burned.

mandalinn82 06-04-2007 11:04 PM

mj5 06-05-2007 02:38 PM

Hi! I'm new and SO excited that I found you! I haven't had a chance to fill in my profile, yet--hopefully by tomorrow I can do that. I have such a hard time staying motivated to exercise...I always have a great plan in the morning and by late afternoon, I can feel it starting to fall apart! Yesterday was the last day for that! I know what I need to do, now I need to do it--consistantly! Tonight my plan is 30 mins of cardio and upper body weights.

3fcuser1058250 06-05-2007 02:40 PM

apoundatatime 06-05-2007 03:11 PM

Welcome mj5

baffled111 06-05-2007 04:21 PM

I'm back from my sinful weekend away and back in the gym! Phew!

11 mins elliptical (100); 21 mins treadmill (200)
Upper body strength training (approx 100)

I got some really cute new workout gear in Distant Big City. Hooray!

katjax36 06-05-2007 04:39 PM

circuit training

does anyone have experince with curves or ladies workout express? I just joined and it seems so easy, I just hope this works for me.:)

mandalinn82 06-05-2007 07:21 PM

Hi mj5 - welcome!

60 min of mixed strength training. I don't understand why i'm still sort of nauseous...its bizarre and I'm not pleased about it. But at least today I seem better able to work through it.

mj5 06-05-2007 08:18 PM

Thanks for the welcome! Well, I did it! Ok, almost all of it...I only did 20mins of cardio (had planned on 30) because my knee was killing me after 10--I pushed it to 20, but didn't think I should go any longer. I also did my upper body (weights). I wish I could bottle the 'after workout energized feeling' that I have and save it for those afternoons when I feel like I am fighting w/ myself to get to the gym.

Have a great night!

LisaMarie71 06-05-2007 08:46 PM

:welcome: Katjax ... I don't personally have experience with Curves or the other ladies only gyms but if you are finding it too easy now, I hope you didn't lock yourself in a one year contract. If you did, make the best of it by brisk or hill walking... When your contract is up join a real gym and get some lessons with a personal trainer...

cakses 06-06-2007 01:59 AM

60 mins of walking fast and 20 minutes of strength training. 400 calories burned!

horsey 06-06-2007 02:11 AM

I think Curves is just for extreme beginners. My mom joined and locked herself into a contract but we had a death in the family so she got out of it. How about trying the walking dvd's, people seem to like those that are on this site, Leslie something? Or join the local ymca so it wouldn't be as much pressure as a co-ed gym? I'm in one and there are people of all ages and sizes. Getting back in shape it's very comfortable not being the only one in a big shirt rather then a sports bra. They have lots of classes and one is a circuit routine similar to Curves where you go in a circle (but you don't do cardio inbetween machines, you do it all afterwards).

baffled111 06-06-2007 03:11 PM

11 mins treadmill (100)
lower body training

My legs felt too, too tired to get back on the treadmill after my lifting--I managed another 3 minutes on the treadmill before quitting for the day. This is why I like to do my cardio first!

mandalinn82 06-06-2007 03:38 PM

Horsey - are you talking about the Walk Away the Pounds videos with Leslie Sansone? She has a 1-mile jog that I love...but she is annoyingly perky sometimes. Then again, almost all fitness video instructors are, for me, irritatingly perky-tastic. Except the Aussie who does my kickboxing tape and keeps yelling "Do it like you really mean it! No smiling!"

mandalinn82 06-06-2007 03:39 PM

Baffled - I tend to do whatever I like least first. That way, when I finish the first part of whatever I'm doing, I am looking forward to the second part. I -love- strength training, so I make sure to do it after my cardio. Otherwise I'd finish my strength training and be WAY too likely to go "but I don't WANNA go do my cardio...I'm TIIIIIIRED" and skip it.
