how many calories do you think I'm burning?

  • Is there anyway to figure out how many calories you burn by doing certain activities?

I did a walk away the pounds video this morning (the 2 mile, its about 30mins) and was curious as to how many calories I was burning. I weigh about 240.

    Any help would be great!
    Thanks!
  • I use FitDay. However, I'm not sure if it is totally accurate. For instance, if you put in that you walked for a distance of 1 mile and the time it took, it gives you lower numbers for less time. I'd think that if you walked that mile at a faster pace, it would take less time, therefore burning more calories. FidDay seems to like to give you a higher calories burned count for taking longer at whatever pace you put in for the same distance.
  • Hey Rainbow Fairy Momma ! Good work on the exercise !
3Fatchicks has a Walk it Off Walking Calculator, which can help you determind what you have just burned off ! That two mile sounds like it might be an advanced tape- so maybe you were doing 3-4 miles an hour.
Sometimes I look at the calories I burn and say is that all ?
But when I take my time walked for the month and plug it in it really shows me what a difference 30-50 minutes a day doing low impact walking can make ! I also use Fitday to track my miles and calories.

  • I also use Fitday to calculate Calories eaten and Calroes burned. Goof Luck!

  • Here are a couple of other websites that can calculate calories burned:
    - http://www.caloriesperhour.com/

Keep in mind that all of these are just estimates. I've never found a calculator that considers intensity, heart rate, and body fat %, all of which are important factors in how many calories you burn. So I wouldn't eat an extra 300 calories just because an online calculator tells me that I burned that many.
  • I wear a Polar watch heart rate monitor. You wear a censored band around your ribs and the watch on your wrist. I walked at a brisk but not real fast pace this evening with neighbors. We walked a total of 43 minutes and I burned 293 calories. It takes into account my resting heart rate, my weight, date of birth, and height. Good luck.
