Hey I'm Alex, I'm new to the board and love to run - just wish I had more time. Anyway - I figured I would make myself accountable for my running so far this month and hopefully get some motivation to surpass it!
So far I'm only at 13 miles due to a lousy work schedule and swedding... |
A bit over 7 today with running to the race and waming up
Total for week 20.0 +100 min cycling & 40 min weights |
Hi! It's been awhile since I visited this website, but I would very much like to participate in your group. I have been trying to incorporate more running/walking into my schedule because it seems to be the fastest way to burn calories and I have a treadmill so I don't necessarily have to go to the gym to do it. Anyway, my goal is to do one exercise video a day for about 5 days a week and I would like to jog/walk at least a mile a day in conjunction with that. So far I've accumulated about 5 miles. I am setting my goal for the month at 30 like Elizabeth04 so I don't discourage myself. Maybe I can up it next month!! ;)
|
Got another 3 miles in today. I'm no where near where a lot of you are (5Ks, triathalons -- holy :moo: !!) but hey, I gotta start somewhere! I also started the C25K today so we'll see how it goes.
Jo FLY EAGLES FLY!!!!! |
I did 1.1 miles on the treadmill last night and 3 WATP miles with 3 pound weights this morning!
|
Got in a measly 3 miles over the weekend. The weather has been to rainy to get out. Now its turning to snow so I should be on track for the rest of the week
Goal - 80 Done - 11.5 (R/W 3/8.5) Left - 68.5 |
Uh - I'm tired this morning. It's quite annoying. I got to the gym as it was opening at 5am and just couldn't run more than 2.5 miles. I ran a longer run yesterday (6 miles) so today was supposed to be a easy run anyway. I just feel disappointed in myself for not running more, expecially because I'm so busy this week that I won't be able to go out and run two of the days.... Oh well...
|
Commit-We all have days like that. Look at the good side. You got yourself up and out there and you DID run 2.5 miles. I'd say that's alot more than the general population! Congrats on getting it in.
I ended up walking my entire morning. I wanted to run, but I'm having some health questions and want to check with a dr. before I do any impact exercise just to be on the safe side. Anyways, I did a chilly 4 miles. Goal - 80 Done - 15.5 (3/12.5) Left - 64.5 |
Just got done 3.0 miles in 48:26 minutes on the treadmill. This does not include a 5 min. warmup (I reset the buttons). I don't know about anyone else, but I'm never really warmed up until about 15 minutes after I start but I sure don't have the luxury or time to warm up that long and then try to walk for over 45 minutes! So my goal will be to get those 3 miles done in 45 minutes. It'll probably take me forever to get to that point! Planning on taking the dog out later for a 1.5 mile walk. I'm sore from the Total Gym stuff I did yesterday (I took it pretty easy) but it's not too bad. Just very aware of my muscles in parts of my upper body.
Eating is going ok. I'm using Fitday to track everything. I like it because all I have to do is put in the food and it does the math for me. Plus, I like the graphs it gives for protein, fat and carbs. I think it gives way too many calories burned for it's "lifestyle" category. I assume I burn 2,000 per day plus whatever I exercise. I then subtract my calorie intake to see approx. how much I've burned that day. I'm sticking to around 1500 calories per day. Hoping that's low enough cause sometimes even at that amount I get really hungry. I have found that a 40% carb, 30% protein and 30% combo seems to keep me satisified the longest. Not eating at night is still such a challenge for me but I've been very good about it. If I do eat something, I plan it and limit the amount of what I eat. Always aiming for that 3,500 deficit just to drop a lb.! :dizzy: If that scale doesn't budge on Friday, I'll just scream!!! Hope everyone is doing ok. Have a good day all!! Jo |

Another 3 miles on the treadmill. W1D2 of the C25K challenge. Just keep moving!

i cannot run on a treadmill! I wimped on running early this morning because they were calling for freezing rain. So I went to the gym to do 50 min..well 4 miles..well 40 min...well 3 miles...well 30 min..just make it 30 freakin minutes..including warm& cool.... crap 2.85 miles
i'm pathetic |
ennay-NOT pathetic. I hate treadmill workouts and dont think I'll ever make it on one again for more than 20 minutes. The last time I did 58 min., and it was pure torture. Its so much nicer outside where there are things to watch and study.
|
its good for me to try every once in a while, saves me from buying one.
I used to be able to do 30-45 minutes ...our gym is HOT though, its primarily a body builder haven, so they keep it kind of warm for cardio. |
Me + The Flu = No Miles. Tomorrow morning I'm planning to ease back into my running and walking. However, I am 4 pounds lighter!
|
5.25 today, was only planning ~ 4 but on the way home I ran in to 2 ladies I have been coaching as they start a running program and I ran/walked with them for 1.5 miles
|
January Goal = 80 miles
Miles Completed = 16 (run/walk = 13/3) Miles to Go = 64 Today was my first post-flu workout. I jogged for 4 miles and it felt pretty good. No intense running, but no walking either (except for the cool down). I'm seriously behind in my miles for the month but I don't feel bad about it. I couldn't help getting sick! I hope to be near 30 miles by the end of the weekend, so there's still hope that I'll make my goal for January! |
Good morning all!
January Goal: 70 miles Miles completed: 33.5 Miles remaining: 36.5 I'm almost halfway to my goal and it's not (quite) the middle of the month! I just didn't feel like working out this morning and I have a lot of things to get done both at home and school. It's the end of the term and things are being neglected at home, so I did a load of laundry and tidied up before I came to my computer for a bit. Then I'll go into work early so I can tackle the job of getting grades done and things ready for the new kids that start on Monday! I'll do my workout this afternoon or evening, though--I WILL NOT BREAK MY STREAK! 151 days and counting....... Michele  |
holy crap its cold out this morning, I hope I have gear for this. Mostly hope its not too icy
|
I've never made this kind of goal before, never really thought about it, but it sounds like a good motivator! I've never been a good runner so I'm going to go with walking, and to be realistic I think I'll start with thirty minutes four times a week.... is this a good place to start?

Does anybody else feel really really lazy and tired if they don't get up and run right in the morning? I HATE it. I mean I love getting up and running in the morning - it's my favorite thing to do and I always have so much energy when I do it. But if I go to the gym with somebody else (I've been getting my mother to do with me lately) and they don't want to go until 8 or 9am - I feel so tired and I can't seem to get in a 4 or 5 mile run. I'm just too tired by then. I like to run at 5 or 6 in the morning - any other time of the day and it's hard.
Anyway - got in 6.7 miles over the past couple days. If I keep going as I have been I'll hit goal on the 30th. I'm hoping to kick it up a notch over the next 2 weeks though - |
I hate getting up, but yeah, if I dont run first thing I feel sluggish all day. I am most sleepy on my rest day.
|
killmissamerica0 / Jo - Your goal sounds great! Welcome!
|
killmissamerica0-Welcome!!! Your goal looks like a great place to start.
Some mornings its really hard to get out of bed (Specially when its super cold out and your nice and toasty under the covers!) but I also feel thrown off for the day if my workout is not "first thing". Goal - 80 Done - 24 (6/18) Left - 56 |
Hello Everyone, I would love to join I think this is such a wonderful motivator. I am going to commit to 40 miles for the month since I am joining in the middle of the month. I did 4 miles today .I do the walk away the pounds tape and loveeeee them,I just really gotten very lazy right before the holidays so I am off to a new start.
Goal 40 Done 4 left 36 Phillyprincess |
artsy, ennay and commit2urself, how early do you all get up to go running? i never thought about doing it in the morning either! i suppose it would be ideal, as i'm a university student, no one would be up at that time so i wouldn't feel so self conscious jogging around the lake!
do you know why it makes you feel so much better for the rest of the day? |
I didn't want to take up a ton of space by updating a lot but I wanted to make sure you didn't think I wasn't following through so as an update I've done five miles so far only 20 to go :dizzy:
|
I'm past the halfway point to my goal and it's not quite halfway through the month!
January Goal: 70 miles Miles to date: 37.66 Miles remaining: 32.34 Have a great Sunday--mine is finally supposed to be snowy! Enough that school may be effected for tomorrow! Michele  |
killmissamerica - I don't know about anybody else but I like to get up when the gym first opens and go. Typically I am there about 7-8am (M, W, F - because I have to wait for my mother to get out of bed) at 5am (T, TH - when I go by myself) and the weekends vary with my work schedule (I work midnights).
Anyway - today I did a little over 3 miles. I feel great and am already looking forward to my run tomorrow.... |

You get the great endorphins going early and there is something pretty satisfying knowing you have ALREADY done your workout and most people are still sleeping. And...well not to get TMI, but running helps with that morning constitutional so you feel lighter and less bloaty. Oh, running - 22.2 miles this week, 42.2 for the month |
I get up btwn 5 and 5:30. I meet my neighbor at 6 so I cant be running late. Run days take me longer cuz I need to get my brace on, my contacts in, and my music ready. For walking sometimes I just roll out of bed and go in my jammies. (Its dark and early so I'm not to self concious about this)

Hello Ladies
Happy MLK day. I did not walk yesterday at all I was so tired, but today I did get up and I walked for 2 hrs (8 miles):woops: I will get ready to do my 10 minute weight lifting. :lifter: Ok everyone keep up the great work :smug: 40 miles for january:D 36 miles completed 8 miles today 28 miles left :carrot: Question Ladies I not sure how you all are posting your reported miles completed if I am doing it wrong please let me know thanks:) Philly Princess |
Ok so this might sound a bit odd - but does anybody go running more than once in a single day? I always get up and go running in the morning - just a habit - and a great start to my day. Well today I had such a horrible day, that by 3pm I was so so so so upset that I had to do something. In this case, my thing is running now (which used to be eating - so yeah for me for not going to the fridge!!). Is it bad to run twice in one day, anybody else done this?
Anyway - got in another 5.5 miles (between the two runs) today. Feeling great too!! |
commit- thats actually a really popular training technique. All of the benefits of running 5.5 miles without as much risk of injury as you recover and are less fatigued. Its one of the recommended weight loss techniques in runners world too because its easier on your body to burn like that. Plus you get double the afterburn
And then of course there is Hood-to-Coast, my all time FAVORITE race where 12 idiot pile in 2 vans and relay 200 miles (each member runs 3 times) in ~ 32 hours. Run 5.5 miles, ride in a van for 9-10 hours..do it again....and yet one more time with no sleep. Back to the am workout thing..I meet a friend at a little after 6 too. We live about 1 mile apart. We both leave at 6 and run towards eachother. That gives each of us about a 10 minute window to work with. |
Slippery out this morning so again walked instead of ran. Someday I'll be able to get back on track with running. At least I'm still out there doing something.
ennay-isn't it nice to have a workout partner waiting for you so you don't just rollover and go back to sleep? I know she's the only reason I've done a few morning workouts when it would've been so easy to hit the snooze button. commits-I usually only run once a day, and usually dont run 2 days in a row. I've had an ankle surgery, and will probably have to have another one on the other ankle so I'm trying to preserve the ligaments and delay a second surgery. Goal - 80 Done - 28 (6/22) Left - 52 |
It is nice to have that workout buddy. I admit I like it better now that we just meet "on the run" because there is no standing around getting cold waiting. And if someone has to bail (usually me with that newborn) the other person doesnt waste time
No workout here today...today would be my gym day but there is a couple inches of ice covered with snow out there. Maybe if it melts I can go tonight (they only have childcare 9-11 and 5-7) |
Hi everyone, I've been delinquent in posting (and a bit, in running too), but just thought I'd post my total to date - I'm up to 38 miles running for the month so far. But, I'm off on vacation starting Thursday, so I don't know how the totals will look on 1/31. Oh well, will be doing my best. Hope you are all getting out there and exercising!
|
Goal - 80
Done - 32 (6/26) Left - 48 There is no way I'll reach my goal this month. There have been to many rainy days. Oh well, we'll see what I can get done. |
