Best Elliptical for Bad Knees

Hi Everyone,

I've been struggling for over a month now with plans to purchase an elliptical.

I had torn cartilages in both knees a couple of years ago -- and want to be absolutely sure that I purchase the machine that is going to be the kindest to these knees!

I would love to hear your recommendations!

Thanks,

best,
b

Bruni -- Have you every TRIED any type of elliptical? If not get a day pass to a gym to try them out... Or try them in the store where you will buying it... I'm sure too that there is a trial period, if not, ask for one...

yes, in fact, I fell in love with them during a free trial at Bally's. I think it was a life fitness -- and those are on the pricier side....

My girlfriend has a nordic track audio strider -- not as smooth as what I'm looking for...

I owned a proform last year -- it was self powered and level 1 was way to hard to be called level 1!!! I had several family members try it and they agreed -- sold it.

I think if you want a smooth elliptical you will have to get a higher end one... But I think that would be worth it in the end because you'd use it more...

I'm sorry I can't help with what type of home elliptical to buy...

Hi Ilene,
Thanks for your response. I am considering a higher end elliptical --

I'm still interested in recommendations by those here on 3FC, so please, post -- I'm checking this thread everyday!

best,

I have an elliptical from Octane fitness. I totally love it. I have bad knees and a bad back and they don't seem to bother me after a 45 min work out. It was about 3,000, but they do have ones with differant features for less and all depends on where you purchase it. Also there are many moving parts that are covered so my kids do not get hurt when they are around it and I am not watching.
Check them out at octanefitness.com
