Abs Diet

  • Has anyone done this? I tried doing a search and nothing came up. I am asking for opinions on the program for a friend. She is considering doing the women's version.
  • I found a couple of threads (both on General Diet Plans):

    The Abs Diet (started 8/18/2004)

Anyone see "The View" this week? (started 10/02/2004)

While I haven't read the book itself, from what I've read about it, there is nothing new here - no deep dark diet secrets. In the second thread the "12 power foods" that apparently are noted in the book are no big secret - bodybuilders and personal trainers have known about them for YEARS. (Although judging from the list, I'd have to say that the book is geared more towards men - I couldn't eat more than a very few nuts at a time, or an OCCASIONAL spoonful of peanut butter - unless I want to break out in fat - also the fact that the book was featured in Men's Fitness magazine.)

My general words of advice regarding diet books are as follows - before you buy it - take advantage of the resources of your local library and check it out BEFORE you drop $15-$25 on yet another diet book that might well end up gathering dust on a shelf...
  • As MrsJim alludes to, the Editor-In-Chief of Men's Fitness wrote the book. It has some great advice in it - but really there is no special diet for getting great abs (I should know - I've tried hard enough...). If I ever find a miracle 6-pack abs diet/equipment/pill/whatever that works... I'll be the first to tell you :-)
  • Thanks guys! I'll be sure to share this info w/her.
