Hi, Shalia! Glad you got the message! The difference is that Diet Power actually calculates your BMR (basal metabolic rate) and Fit Day does not. If you end up purchasing DP, you'll see that that rate will vary slightly based on your weight changes, intake and exercise patterns. There are so many cool things that you can do in DP also -- but it might take time for you to figure them out. I know it did me!
Just a tip -- if you happen to eat the same meals repeatedly -- like breakfast, for example -- go up to the recipe folder and name the meal, then enter all the stuff you consume in that meal. Then drag that meal/recipe into your favorites box, and you only have to enter one thing instead of all of it. Just a timesaver! I've used DP since the start of my weight loss journey (see my sig for details) so I've had time to play around with it. Maybe you already figured out this little trick, but if you didn't -- hope it helps! :) I think I would have struggled a lot more in my weight loss if I hadn't used DP. It really was a motivator and kept me focused and aware. |
You know what I think I like most about this one? When playing with Fitday, I always feel like I'm eating too much when I see the calorie amount. It's insane, but it's how I feel. This thing tells me to eat MORE or mess up my metabolism. I like that. :) It helps and it's true. I want to keep my metabolism from tanking.
So far I like this one. Thanks so much. If I buy it, do you want me to reference you so you get the $5 rebate or whatever? |
Oh wow! I didn't even know they did that! Well, then, ok! I'll PM you my full name.
Speaking of "more info," I also really like that you get a much more complete nutritional picture (with the micronutrients) -- and if you're lacking a particular vitamin or mineral, you can click on it and it will name foods that you "like" (have entered as eaten) that contain it. Also, there's a whole world of nutritional information at the site, if you are online and you access it through the software. I just really want to know more than just caloric or basic macronutrient info -- I want the whole picture, and I also want to customize it based on my plan....so that's cool too. :) |
Sarah, thanks for the review! Based on your raving review, I installed a free trial of it and I love it!

Alright, I'll shut up now. I'm really happy that you like it though!! I have raved about it so much and for so long that at one point I started to get concerned that you guys would think I was a vendor or DP rep! :dizzy: The only thing I don't like about it is that you can't print screen whenever you want. But seriously, how often do you need that? Alright, totally shutting up now! :p Enjoy! |
This has been a helpful thread, thanks! :)
After reading this, I tried both Dietpower and the PC version of Fitday. The Dietpower messed up my computer, was way over complicated (IMO) and very time consuming. I got rid of it, but the company was very, very good about refunding my money in a pleasant manner with no questions or accusations that I was using the software wrong or lying or something, which is unusual in my experience. I downloaded Fitday today and ordered a backup CD. I've been playing with the software for awhile, entering everything for the past week, goal setting, etc. I LOVE this software. It is just what I want and is very easy to use. On the strength of it, I've amended my weight goal downward five pounds as I see how just a tiny extra effort can (theoretically) get me to that lower weight by the end of October. Fitday is just by far the more preferable product for me ... |
