Strivectin
Has anyone used this stretch mark cream and does it work? They say it's clinically proven to diminish stretch marks in over 90% of users.
It's a bit exensive so before I buy it I thought I'd see if anyone had a review. :) |
It's made by the same people that make Leptoprin, and they are well known for making false claims, and were even cited by the FTC. They cut and paste bits of studies to make claims to back up their products, when the actual studies don't support them at all. Therefore, I would not believe their claims about this product, either. It's just another over-priced product, hope in a bottle.
A lot of people say that using cocoa butter helps. Everything I've read says that creams can make the skin softer and make it more comfortable, but have little to no effect on the stretch marks. Apparently, stretch marks are largely genetic, and your own skin's elasticity will determine whether you get them, and how quickly you rebound (if you do). It's always worth a try, and cocoa butter is affordable :) I would look for info from dermatologists, for proven advice. Most of the information I've found is on pregnancy sites. Here's an interesting quote Quote:

What Suzanne said :)
I wouldn't buy ANYTHING from Klein-Becker, personally. Overpriced, overhyped crapola - very clever marketing and packaging - they package their products like prescription drugs and use the same 'look and feel' in their advertising, very professional looking, but it's just a very thin veneer. Now on stretch marks - I've got a TON of them. A lot of them did get cut out in my tummy tuck, but I still have them on my upper legs, under my arms, on my boobs, etc. According to my plastic surgeon, like Suzanne said, you can try cocoa butter or a really emollient lotion, but it probably won't help much. (BTW my current favorite lotion is called "She's The Cats' Pajamas" by Swanky Girl - it's VERY moisturizing, smells great, and you can get it on eBay for like 8 bucks). http://waycheaper.com/Merchant2/grap...atsPajamas.gif |
What Suzanne and Karen said. :) :)
I've talked about stretch marks with my dermatologist and she said that the only treatment is Retin A IF the stretch marks are still new and red (I think she said less than nine months old). If they're white, faded, or older than that, there isn't anything that you can put on them that will make them go away. Tanning/self-tanners and moisturizers do help their appearance, though. |
