Ultra 90..??

I was just reading about a new diet pill called Ultra 90. Anyone tried this or heard how it works. The ingredients are:

Collagen Hydrolysate, Aloe Vera, Safflower Oil, Lecithin, and Bees Wax.

I do not really see anything there that promotes weight loss. Also said to take 3 capsules before bedtime with water and no food prior to 3 hours of taking them. Kind of pricy $100+ but a special of 54.00 for a radio special or some such. Wonder how this makes you lose weight?

It does take the weight out of your wallet - save your money. The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat less and exercise more and stay away from all these diet pills.

Excellent advice :) We've not found a weight loss supplement yet that has been scientifically proven to meet their claims of weight loss. I checked the Ultra 90 site and was confused by some of their claims, such as:

Assists in building lean muscle-lean muscle weighs more than fat resulting in loss of body inches
Helps increase energy & stamina due to the body burning off excess body fats and sugars more efficiently
Helps shorten work-out recovery time
Helps reduce wrinkles and age spots
No strict dieting or exercise necessary
Promotes an overall sense of well-being
86% success rate on a 3-month program with 50% seeing results in the first month

Some of those claims are based on other claims about collagen. However, none have been proven, and they are just marketing ploys, without basis. While there are some benefits to collagen use, ingesting it as a supplement is useless to the body for weight loss. According to Intelihealth "Because the industry is basically unregulated, manufacturers of dietary supplements can really make just about any claim they want. Collagen is now being sold as an aid in weight reduction and muscle tone. Collagen is also being sold as a cream for aging skin and as a hair relaxer. The good news is that collagen is safe. But there is no evidence that taking collagen actually works for any medical condition."

Aloe vera has also been claimed to help in weight loss, but once again, it doesn't. It can cause diarrhea and cramping. The Ultra 90 says this is one of the 'inactive' ingredients, so why put it in there?

The safflower oil, lecithin, and bees wax are just binders or suspension agents for the capsules. They add nothing to the product, and are not useful for any condition, including weight. Lecithin has been been claimed to help brain functions. According to Berkeley, though, " You would have to consume enormous amounts of lecithin to get the health benefits, if any. High doses can cause nausea, bloating, and diarrhea."

And bees wax is just bees wax. Useful for candles, polishing furniture, and even to bees :)

According to their site, Ultra 90 is another miracle pill that you take before going to bed at night, so the collagen can supposedly work.

They also tell you that the only ingredient that supports their claims is collagen (though it doesn't do anything they claim, lol) yet they charge $55 for a one month supply. If you really want to take it, you can buy collagen tablets at any drugstore for a fraction of the cost. Still, we recommend you save your money and buy a good diet book or healthy food :)
