A fiber question?

I was just wondering if anybody takes Metamucil (or something like that) and if they notice that the fiber in it makes them feel fuller?

just wondering.

thanks,
cathy

It could make you feel fuller and it could also send you to the bathroom since it is a laxative.

Hey Susan,

yes your definitely right about that! I have low thyroid tho so I really need the fiber anyway. But I'm glad you brought that up in case somebody reads this thread and gets any ideas about feeling full but doesn't think about the "laxative" part of it. ;)

I guess I was wondering if anybody noticed that it made them feel fuller?

The few times I've taken it I have not felt any fuller but I do get bad cramps from it.

Fiber is WAY important - Michael Fumento devotes an entire CHAPTER on "The Fiber Factor" in his book Fat of the Land. When I did Optifast back in 1990, a fiber supplement was required. However, I cannot STAND that icky gritty Metamucil feeling in my mouth so I used those FiberCon tablets.

These days, I prefer to get my fiber the natural way - from foods. Cereals like Fiber One and All-Bran have a TON of fiber in them (so introduce them gradually!). And of course there's all those lovely fiberous vegetables that we all know are SO good for us.

And if you have, um, 'reactions'...there's always Beano.

Re: Fiber.

I tried the fiber pills...the generic ones at Wally World. UGH!! Not good. They plugged me up..I felt like I was going to burst internally. I think I might not have drank enough fluids with the pills but I am not sure. Now...getting fiber from cereals, grains, fruits, etc...hasn't done that to me. It keeps the pipes flowing and regular.

ROFL @ Beano!!! I heard that stuff works great though!! A friend of mine puts it in his homemade 15 bean soup. I got the guts up one time to ask him..."Umm...what do you do with ALL of that gas??!! What about everyone else??" He goes, "I add Beano to the pot. Works great & the family can't play the "F" game with me then..." :lol3:

I love ground flax to keep the pipes clean... I've always read you shouldn't cook with Beano, but just take a couple on the first bite... It does work wonders tho...
