Cortislim

Has anyone ever used this? And does this work.

Just curious.

I don't know if the pills actually will change your cortisol level or not, but I do know that cortisol is a hormone and should not be regulated by otc medications unless you see a doctor about it. Your cortisol levels may not be elevated. Cortisol can also be naturally regulated with exercise and stress reduction.

Thanks for the info, glad I didn't buy it.

This might help clarify: http://www.ultimatefatburner.com/cortislim-review.html

Excess cortisol levels may indeed be somewhat responsible for excess fat deposition and weight gain...

The most important ingredient in (Cortislim) is Magnolia bark, standardized for something called "honokiol". According to Supplement Watch...

"...a small dose of honokiol, or Magnolia bark standardized for honokiol content, can help to 'de-stress' you without making you sleepy, while a larger dose may have the effect of knocking you out. When compared to pharmaceutical agents such as Valium (diazepam), honokiol appears to be as effective in its anti-anxiety activity, yet not nearly as powerful in its sedative ability..."

The only other ingredient of note is Citrus Aurantium (bitter orange), standardized for synephrine--ephedra's kinder, gentler cousin (unfortunately, there's not much evidence synephrine is good for anything!)

So, this supplement doesn't work on the cortisol directly. Basically, it's supposed to keep you from getting stressed, so your body doesn't produce excess cortisol. And it has a stimulant thrown in for a kick. You could probably get the same effect by following a cup of chamomile tea with a glass of Diet Coke.
