Meal Replacement or Protien Shakes

I'm currently using the Slimfast powder to make it easy for meals at work and I love them, but I notice it has very high sugar content. Does anyone have info on a similar powder meal replacement or protein shake that isn't quite as high in sugar and doesn't break the bank? Any info is appreciated. Thank you in andvance

Seriously! My post was removed? How bizarre. I ended up in hospital after taking these shakes. You would think this relevant to the thread.

I drink Soylent for lunch at work. It's filling and satisfying and really easy to measure how many calories I'm getting.

I drink Jay Robb. Google it if you never heard of it. It doesn't have all of those crazy chemicals in it. And it's sweetened with Stevia and it's made with milk that doesn't have growth hormones in it.

Thank you that sounds great. How does it taste? :)

I'm taking Muscletech Phase 8 as my workout protein and replacement for dinner.
It keeps me full for like 6hrs or more because of the Casein content.
I'm loving the white chocolate flavour!

I have a friend who mixes raw cacao with almond milk which I guess is far more natural than a meal replacement shake.

kitcat671 01-20-2016 08:22 PM

I drink Total Soy. I've only tried the chocolate flavor and I like it. Its 130 calories a serving and 8g of sugar per serving.

That sounds just delightful. I'm no proponent of almond milk by itself, but this actually sounds tasty.

I drink Premier Protein shakes. The chocolate one tastes just like chocolate milk. They are around $7 for a 4 pack at Walmart. Right now there are coupons on clipping services for $4 off a 4 pack. I ordered a bunch of the coupons for .16 each

I like Jay Robb too! Though I do purchase the egg white blend as opposed to the whey. No good reason as I sometimes switch off with plain fat free Greek yogurt when money is tight. I try to get Jay Robb at GNC when they have sales of buy one, get one at 50% off. In any case, my smoothy recipe is the same every morning, 1 scoop of Jay Robb or one container of Chobani yogurt. Jay Robb has 24 g of protein per scoop/ Yogurt has 15 g. If you are counting carbs, Jay Robb is 4 g; yogurt is 7 g.

One last thought, if you live near a Wholefoods, they sell a variety of different protein powders in individual packs. I recommend taste testing and comparing. I don't know how many powders I've had to suffer through, even GMO free powders, before I found one that I liked. Fortunately, Jay Robb is also GMO free and has no sugar or artificial sweeteners. Actually way better for you than Greek yogurt, but sometimes I have to deviate a little to fit the pocket book!

I use Spirutein Vanilla :) It's tasty too!

Missy789 07-06-2016 10:58 PM

VEGA!! When i used to drink it, I always felt amazingggg. But i drank it too often and cant stand the taste of it anymore :(

adorkheathen 09-11-2016 11:24 AM

I use a variety of protein powders - I generally try to make sure each serving is under 15 carbs. That tends to keep me in good shape. I really like the Vega meal replacement, and the BodyLabs TastyShake Chocolate. I buy the latter at Big Lots for half the price of Amazon or Walmart.

I use Premier Protien Chocolate!

It's my favorite too. Great to have someone share the same interest here.

My doc swears by Vega ( the Protein & Greens version).

My favourite is the chocolate. I mix it with about 250ml of water, half a raw beet, and a cup of frozen berries. It tastes like a milkshake, it's amazing!

Hi! If it's Slimfast that you're used to, they carry a High Protein/Low Carb shake that has only 1 gram of sugar and 20 grams of protein. They're a teensy bit pricey at nearly 6,00-7.00 per 4-pack, but that's loads cheaper than most protein powders. They're part of Slimfast's Advanced Nutrition line and they taste pretty great. They come in Creamy chocolate, Vanilla Cream, Strawberries & Cream, Caramel Latte (my favorite!) and Mocha Cappuccino. Hope this helps!

Hellowr, I see you're American. I'm not sure how sugary is too sugary for you, but I found the carnation breakfast drink mixes are very affordable, have protein, vitamins, minerals the whole shabang. They are sweet but not disgustingly sweet, but I mean I have a sweet tooth. Either way you probably check out the label at the grocery store.

Finally Something That Works

I have tried so many different weight loss products; water pills and they all give the same results nothing. Recently I've been doing this 3step program for 2months now and it has really helped. Not only with weight loss but it also gives me the nutrients my body is missing keeping me healthy and alert throughout the day. I have the info if anyone wants to try let me know.

mscreneet 04-27-2017 02:35 AM

I know this is an old post however ,I was initially doing slim fast as well and stopped after trying to not take in so much sugar. Also a lot of the other ingreadients in it was just too questinable for me.
I recently switched to 310 Nutrition Shakes instead
They have been working great for me, the only downside is the cost.
They are plant based and very low in calories.
