Ninja Blender?

Saw the TV advertisement for the Ninja system today. Is it really as good as it says? I read some reviews on Amazon and people were saying theirs broke down after a few months. Or the blades went dull really quick. Or the pitchers cracked and leaked. That it didn't make smooth smoothies and couldn't juice worth a darn. And that their warranty was horrible. People were saying to just pay the extra money and get a vitamix. If we decide to invest in something, what should we get? The ninja looks nice cause it's also a food processor and can mix dough and other stuff. Not sure what to do. :?:

Got the Ninja Master Prep a few days ago and can't wait to use it for home made Frappi's.

Bought a Ninja Professional Series a month ago. Came with large pitcher, smaller pitcher for food processing and 2 individual serving cups. Cost $199. I use it 2-3 times a day and love it! It tackles the hard to grind stuff really well. Clean-up is super simple since the blade comes out. Just rinse everything off quickly. It does have a lot of safety mechanisms that have to be in place before it will will run, but that is fine with me.

I have a Ninja and really like it. We have had it for over a year and use it several times a week. It's held up well, and the blades are still quite sharp (I sliced my finger on one yesterday!). The only thing that I do not like is that it is taller than the space I have on my counter, so I keep it in a cabinet. I would probably use it a bit more if I could set it out. Small issues!

I have both a Ninja and a Vitamix. The Vitamix is head and shoulders above the Ninja. I would absolutely recommend the Vitamix.

Doris5096 07-26-2014 10:04 AM

I have heard many positive reviews about Vitamix. However, to cough up the $500 for it was not going to happen in my budget.

mam1958 07-26-2014 02:23 PM

I have bought the Vitamix and just love it. We got ours at Costco for almost $150.00 less.

It is so worth the extra money.

On a side note the one I have is too large for under the counter also.

We make orange creamicycle everyday...

1/2 c greek yogurt
1/2 c skim milk
1 orange
squirt of orange creamcycle zero cal.
6 ice cubes

blend just like an Orange Julius

Have had a Ninja system for 4 or 5 years and love it - I use it all the time, and have never had any trouble with it and the blades are still very sharp!

NicoleLynn225 01-09-2015 04:37 AM

I have the ninja master prep...and yes. If ur looking to make fruit smoothies use the blender attachment....if u wanna do green smoothies that include veggies u have to use the food processor attachment. I love mine!

miniDoodles 01-10-2015 06:39 PM

I got the Nutra Ninja from QVC, orchid TSV :smug: it has 3 sizes of blending cups w it.

I've used it 4x this week & I really like it a lot :broc: making Green smoothies w adding fruit :p

I didn't read the instruction/destruction bk prior to using it the 1st time. I put a handful of uncut spinach :kickbutt: in it w some almond milk & fruit & pulsed it. It was bad, the spinach leaves weren't emulsified, just a ragged-mess unfit to drink or eat.

Ok, it pays to read the book  Because I should've torn those Big leaves or given the spinach leaves a rough chop & put them in the container last :dizzy:

To correct my Blunder w/o making a mess, I dumped my disaster into a bowl & poured some milk into the container & added 'only the uncut spinach mess' & pulsed it to chop it up & added my fruit back.

It was so delicious - creamy - thick & I didn't have any appetite to eat my potato chips.

So I learned a Lesson :cheer3:

I purchased the Nutri Ninja 2-in-1 when it was on sale at Walmart for $69.99.

I had a tough time deciding if I wanted to spend the money to purchase a blender as I had a little Magic Bullet set. When I found the 2-in-1 I was so thrilled that it had a food processor section which was what I didn't want to give up with the Magic Bullet.

Probably the BEST purchase I have made in years!

I use it mostly to make a green smoothie for breakfast every day. I have used the processor section to make hummus so far and it was fantastic... better than store purchased!

The only downside I have personally found with it is the drink to-go cups are too small for the recipes I make. I need 24oz cups and these are only 16oz. I typically drink 1 before I go to work and bring one to work with me.

miniDoodles 01-22-2015 06:05 AM

Hi Mrs.Clayton, u can buy the bigger cups at their website & on Amazon.com. Mine has all 3 sizes. The biggest holds enough smoothie drinks for 2 big snacks, or 2 smoothie meals. The smallest makes a pudding size snack :p

sunarie 01-22-2015 11:31 AM

I got the Ninja Master Prep on Amazon for ~$35 when our previous blender broke a few months back. Absolutely love it. The smaller container is perfect for making my daily smoothie. Would definitely recommend it!

Version I got is here http://www.amazon.com/Ninja-QB900B-M.../dp/B003XU3C7M

benboyd85 02-18-2015 11:21 PM

I love my ninja. I mostly use it for shakes/smoothies, but I have used the food processor a few times. I have even used it for cookie dough!

ChloroformSdxn 02-19-2015 02:42 PM

See how much you use it. I love my Vitamix, which I got after going through a couple bullets (they seemed to break every year, but for the price you can't really complain.) Refurbished ones are also an option.

seaurchin 02-19-2015 09:17 PM

Loved my magic bullet before it broke. I hated the replacement Ninja. I must have gotten a dud. I then upgraded to a vitamix-worth every penny. I use my vitamix twice a day.

alk1971 03-14-2015 01:36 AM

My mom has one and she really likes it.

miniDoodles 03-14-2015 11:31 AM

If u buy 1, b sure to get it w at least 2 different sizes of containers. Mine has 3 sizes w it. U can only fill it 3/4 to the top.

mscreneet 03-26-2015 10:31 AM

To answer your question...I have a ninja and its just "ok" for me.
I've had it about 3 years now.
In regards to the consistency when it makes smoothies, it varies.
It never makes them quite as smooth as a like but for the price of a ninja in comparison to a vitamix I cant complain.
I would definitely like my smoothies a bit more smooth.
It also works well as a food processer. I have the one that came with a few different size containers to blend in so I use the really tall blender looking one for smoothies. After reading other reviews and the post here on this site Im thinking of giving the nutribullet a try.

In regards to the blades after 3 over years I can say mine are still very sharp. You can easily cut your hand on them.
I also have not had any leaks to any part of my system.

healthyfitlife 04-02-2015 08:50 PM

honestly they are all good. I was thinking of maybe getting magic bullet because it looks real easy to use and convenient, but that's just me.

Luvmymonkeys 04-06-2015 03:13 AM

I have one I had for over 5 years and I love it... however don't like all the parts to clean for something small (like my protein shakes) so I bought a cheapie personal blender....Now I can throw it in the dishwasher and don't have the glass to wash too. If its for more personal use get something smaller if you will be using for more than smoothies it will do the job

Jonquil 05-31-2015 04:05 PM

I just got a Ninja a few weeks ago. Mine has the big square pitcher only, no cups or food processor attachment. So far it's working great, much better than the Cuisinart it replaced. It doesn't make smoothies completely smooth, but good enough, IMO, and doesn't have any trouble crushing ice/frozen vegetables. The Cuisinart blades would always get stuck and I'd have to dislodge the ice/frozen veggies with a wooden spoon to get it going again. I haven't had any problems with the Ninja leaking, but since it's only been a few weeks, too early to tell if it might become a problem after it's seen some wear and tear. I would've liked to get a Vitamix, but just couldn't spend the money. For a cheaper alternative, I'm happy with the Ninja so far.

HereIStand 07-29-2015 02:22 PM

Love my Ninja Professional. I use the single serve cup every day to make smoothies with spinach; it absolutely obliterates the spinach. It's great for frappaccinos and margaritas (which I'm not enjoying right now, LOL). I gave my daughter a Magic Bullet and it's nowhere near as good as the Ninja.

miniDoodles 08-26-2015 12:29 AM

I have the Ninja 1000 from QVC & I've used it at least 4 Breakfasts weekly since I got it over a year ago. If I don't have a green smoothie @ breakfast I don't have much energy during the day. My smoothies r always smooth, no chunks or pieces.

Today:
B... Green spinach smoothie w watermelon & blueberries, chia & flax seeds.

If anybody is having a problem w getting their food smooth, its the way you r layering your ingredients. Ex: I put some water in my container, then added a handful of my spinach. I blend it until 'almost' smooth & then add the rest & its like a yummy shake :p

Delish, so read your manual/recipe book & then eat your delish experiments :smug:

howyoulose 08-31-2015 04:26 PM

It's honestly the most amazing thing ever. I have the smaller one and it crushes ice like nobody's business. It definitely lives up to the commercials. Everything comes out completely smooth, not like my old blender. Totally worth it IMO.

Eydawn 09-17-2015 12:33 PM

I have the ninja professional, with three smoothie/individual cups and that attachment. It's awesome. I use it as a food processor, to make snack balls, and to blend single serve smoothies. Haven't been dissatisfied with it yet.

miniDoodles 09-29-2015 07:40 PM

Okay on QVC I just saw another version of my Ninja, just another almost Identical product to push @ us to buy.

Come on businesses why don't U think of another product to help us, instead of just adding colors or adding & subtracting the cups from the Ninja's?

I hope U r reading this.

How about making cups w handles near the top to set into my auto cup holder & r safe for the winter temps.

Or make some insulated cozies w a sling for carrying my cups to my auto, so I don't have to balance it in my hand while carrying everything else.

MaeCrochet 11-23-2015 08:01 AM

I have a Ninja professional that I got at Costco for $170. Came with three NutriNinja cups and the blade, a 72oz blender pitcher, and a food processor with dough blades and two slicer/shredder discs. I use it nearly every day, and it works like a dream. It's one of the best kitchen investments I've made!

Jan M 02-06-2016 04:33 PM

Yes, I would definitely recommend the Nutri Ninja Auto IQ. :carrot:

Completely agree with this. Bought the Ninja and thought it was a pretty solid blender. Then bought the Vitamix and was blown away. Never touched the Ninja again.
