Best protein powder?
I'm looking for a basic vanilla protein powder, but honestly don't know where to begin. Which supplement is best? I am training for a 5k, so I do a lot of walking/jogging/running, I also do weight training, cycling, tennis, and swimming. For hardcore workouts I want something that will refuel my body and keep me from getting injuries. I've heard different things about soy, artificial flavors, etc. and I just want to know what is my best bet?

i like the one from raley's from the natural food section. it's cheaper, and i think it's pretty close to being all natural. closer than muscle milk, i'm sure.

I personally really like hemp protein powders, although Vega is my favorite, most of them are really good. Also, they are minimally processed and contain healthy fats as well as protein.

I really like Designer Whey (Chocolate Peanut Caramel) and Optimum Nutrition Casein (Chocolate Pudding) - the Casein is a little longer-acting than the Whey.
Hope that helps! |
If you do end up purchasing whey protein powder, I would look up the recent consumer reports findings about toxins in whey protein powders. It might at least give you an idea which ones have the least amount of toxins.

I like isoflex protien powder. No fake sugar, low carb, high protein and has a lot of amino acids in it, including 2500g of leucine per scoop. This is important. To prevent your body from metabolizing your muscles.
