Day 28 update (Has it already been a month?)
--------------------------------------------- Last weight and Current weight: 190 Didn't lose any weight this time either, but I am not surprised because we went out of town for a bit. I didn't gain any weight either which I am surprised because of what I was eating. All that walking around a military base in the heat will make you ravenous. Measurements (in) ------------------- Neck - 14 -- (-0) Waist - 32.5 - (-1) Thighs- 24.o - (-0.5) Bust - 38.0 - (-3.0) <--WTH?!? I was shocked at this one. Chest - 33.5 - (-0.5) Hips - 46.0 - (-0) Arms - 13.5 - (-0) I exercised at bit more this time. Not much, though. I found I actually started wanting bananas when I stop eating them for a day. |

Turns out my scale is 10 lbs off, which is odd because I tested it with weights and it showed exactly what it was. So I am not sure which scale to go by. The weird weight machine at the hospital says I am 15lbs hevier that what the other scale says. so I will be putting both weights on her and yeah I am confused myself. Oh well, I still lost the same amount of pounds and inches. Has anyone else had this problem?
Day 35 update --------------------------------------------- Last weight and Current weight: 190 <-- my scale Last weight and Current weight: 205 <-- hospital scale Didn't lose any weight, but have lost inches again. Measurements (in) ---> 3 inches all around lost ------------------- Neck - 13.5 - (-0.5) Waist - 32.0 - (-0.0) Thighs- 23.5 - (-0.5) Bust - 37.5 - (-0.5) Chest - 33.5 - (-0.) Hips - 45.0 - (-1.0) Arms - 13.0 - (-0.5) Exercise - Didn't feel like it. Other things: ------------- My boss noticed that I was getting smaller. We are both trying to lose weight and he congratulated me yesterday. My Mom even said that you could tell that I was getting slimmer. I can also get into 12 jeans now without much problem. |
I love bananas, and so eat them for lunch/snack sometimes, but (perhaps oddly) they do not fill me up that much. A cut-up banana lasts me all of a minute or two; a cut-up apple lasts me 10+ minutes and is actually a chore to finish off. Then I feel satisfied for a couple hours whereas after a banana I always feel like I can eat a few more bananas.
Geez, I sound negative. I just mean, that's how it is for me. They are delicious and healthy, though. I was actually thinking of heating some banana slices on the stove briefly next time I have them. I feel like I read once that they were good that way? |
Nogitsune - scales very rarely match, so it's best to stick to the one set for the weights you actually record. When you get nearer to goal, you can decide if you want to do some research and find out which is your 'real' weight. In the meantime you're losing inches and weight, well done!

Huh... haven't updated in awhile. Well so far with the diet and without me really exercising at all...not exercising, I have went form a 16 to a 12 in pants size. Think I will stick to it. How is everyone else doing, those who have tried it or are trying it. Oh, I finally got over my plateau and am now down to 187 lbs.

I'm a little late to this discussion, but I buy bananas every week. If I work early on a given day (7am) I like to grab two bananas for my breakfast. If I have more time, I'll usually have a bowl of cereal, or cereal and one banana.
|
I think I might try this. Since bananas are high on the GI chart, if I am a little hypoglycemic (not enough to need medical attention) would eating a banana maybe help bring it back up a little?
|
Hi Nogitsune, I was just wondering the other day how you were going. Well done on your loss!

This was obtained from a yahoo group I belong to, it was posted by someone who received via email from a friend of their's so I do not know the actual source. I want to share it here. PLEASE READ IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I believe this info is correct. I suffer many of these 'conditions' listed and can say bananas have my been my favorite fruit since childhood, often chosen over cakes or candies. I have a history of depression and anxiety among other things, anyway:
:cb: Bananas Contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber, a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet. Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel better. PMS: Forget the pills -- eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.. Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect way to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke. Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex England ) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert. Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives. Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.. Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief. Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation. Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system. Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.. Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach. Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a 'cooling' fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan. Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6 and B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal. Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack. Strokes: According to research in 'The New England Journal of Medicine,' eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death from strokes by as much as 40%! So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrates, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, 'A banana a day keeps the doctor away!' Footnote: If your roses are covered with Aphids, drape banana skins over the branches, I'ts amazing, but in a day or less, they are GONE! I've tried it, and I couldn't believe it, no more aphids, as long as I save my banana skins for the rose bushes! ~yahoo group By the way, does anyone know what "aphids" are? |
Aphids are soft-bodied insects that feed by sucking sap from plants. I just had to look it up. :)
|
How is everyone doing? I am going to stop buying bananas until I can find some good quality ones. The ones I have seen lately are not as good as they used to be. Any suggestions on whee some good quality bananas are? Or maybe, I just need a break from that fruit. I have taken up to eating Honey Nut Cheerios with almond milk or rice milk, since I cannot drink regular milk.

I love banannas. I eat them when I am hungry but dont want to spoil my day. Yum!
